It is called advertising, special offers, promotions, etc., etc.
The catch is, both check your credit rating by making you pay up front and when if you cancel after a certain date, you pay a penalty.
The point I am trying to make is, the providers does have an option whom to see and there are methods to screen starting with TER for reasonable assurance the person will show up.
Let me ask you question, would you book a room for Out Call with a provider who is new and has no review and you have never heard off ?
In the past two weeks, I have had five cancellation AFTER they told me to book a room at a highend hotel. These damn hotels don't come cheap and I can't replace appointments in short notice. I have lost about a thousand dollars in hotel fees. Nobody has offered to cover that. All I get is a "Sorry" in a email.
I read on here earlier about indy's jacking up the prices. THIS is a reason why! I want to spend time with the clients and I enjoy making the money, but how can I when all I get is "Sorry"
I only advertise here(no BP, no Cityvibe) so this tells you that these guys are lurkers and enjoy wasting the girls time and money.
Grrrrrr I am pissed and I have bills due, but I am not going to be able to pay them because I had to pay a thousand dollars for NOTHING!
Those five are now on my DNS list.
So I asking, is this a new trend? Never had it happen before.
END OF RANT
Your abiulity to pick reliable clients may need sharpening.
I thought that was the purpose of verification. And don't you ladies have a private forum and black lists of guys to avoid.
I had to cancel on a fine lady here once when I had requested a specific upscale hotel and then had a personal emergency. I gave almost a weeks notice but the reservation was nonrefundable. I felt so bad I gotv ahold of my lady and recompensed her 125% of the cost to make sure things wee right.
Perhaps you chose the wrong hobbyist.
She is picking the wrong hobbyist? Really?
Does the Hyatt pick the wrong guest?
Does Carnival cruise pick the wrong passenger?
With this mind set you are probably one that does the same thing to providers.
It is all HER fault no blame to the hobbyist.
She is selling a service and apparently is willing to do what it takes to accommodate the hobbyist. Then she gets fragged for trying.
I could accept this if it was once or twice but more than that I would have to place the blame on the hobbyist
Nice try with your Jedi mind trick
Hyatt, you book with a credit card, you don't show up, your credit card gets charged.
Carnival Cruise you pay for it before you get on the ship.
The point the poster is trying to make is that, she may be picking the wrong hobbysts, it is well known fact that few people out there are derranged and like to mess with providers. So, get of your high-horse with ridiculous analogies.
You got it wrong ... Way WRONG! She is selling a service. The "Hobbyist" chose to use her service. Then backed out for what ever their reasons. She put up money for the room to have an in-call as part of her service. She got stiffed. Then vents here.
A few of the posters said that she picked the wrong "hobbyist", when it was the "hobbyist" that picked first.
Sure the Hyatt books with a credit card but they do not go out and pick the guest, do they?
Carnival Cruise is paid up front, but do they call you to see if you want to book passage?
I do not think that she is picking the "hobbyist", I would believe that she is trying to earn some money after she laid out the money for the room as part of her service.
98% sure the hobbyist picked her and she booked a room, then got a "Sorry can't make it."
Not a big deal in my world but it seems to me that a few posters want to say that she is picking the "hobbyist". WTF
My analogies may be ridiculous to some, but to say that she is picking the hobbyist is wrong.
Not on a "high-horse" at all. Far from it.
I hate it for her but that is part of this business. Maybe she will find a better way to cover her costs in the future.
Kind of funny that she wants to vent here and no one is offering her guidance, only pointing fingers and telling her ... she chose poorly.

Other areas are experiencing the same thing.
Unfortunately, many hobbyists can identify with your pain. I've lost count of the number of times providers have cancelled on me at the last moment. And yes, it has been after I procured a hotel room for the express purpose of enjoying a get together.
I would suggest instituting a deposit policy if you're having to front the cost of an expensive hotel. That way, even if someone cancelled on you, you wouldn't be out the cost of the room.
Just not sure who no shows more frequently, hobbiest or providers
She must of double booked. It certainly happens on both sides....nature of the beast I guess.
