is certrainly not by giving out a person's phone number. This violates our rules of ethics. I can appreciate the need for you to convey your information but certainly not to totally expose one's phone number completely. The best way to handle this would be to have people email you for the information.
This person? Sure...everyone just has the capability to access a disconnected cell phone. You know how to do that? Because, the last time I recall...you can't call someone's phone that has been turned off. I was on my way to pay my bill, and had just tried to call a friend. It isn't a question of ethics...It is my safety, your safety, the hobbyists safety. I am very ethical, I believe...But obviously, I got really lucky realizing what had just happened. If you can tell this board how someone can access my phone in that matter, I will consider your perception of a violation of ethics. I would NEVER violate the unspoken rule of discretion by posting an ACTUAL real person's number if it had happened in another manner. It was a fluke to happen the way it did, but happened nonetheless, and I am happy for it. I hope you understand my logic...I care about alot of the people here, and my own livelihood; that is all...
Soifa, I understand you to be an excellent provider. I know you had everyone's best interest at heart. There is a perfect example of this on another board and on a "providers only" board where 3 gals in another area have been raped and beaten, and even still the number or name was not given out. The reson for this is it gives the chance of justice to be done without any loopholes. When dealing with LE and people such as this, we still need to take the "high" road and continue to use as much discretion as possible. I am POSITIVE you have gotten several emails as to the identity of this person. I hope that you tell everyone who has done so all of the information you have. There was another issue where a gal had posted info on her website about a guy, which is wrong as well. I know this may sound insane to say it is wrong but you have to understand that if for some reason, which I doubt, this may have been a fluke, this man is now probably getting 50 phone calls of harrassement by well meaning people and may not have done anything wrong except be guilty of being an ass.
Sofia, please understand that I agree with you, this person at the least is an ass, if not LE. The point I am trying to make is that we have not been able to prove one way or the other, regardless of our beliefs. I am on your side here, I promise.
Discretion is paramount, and sadly enough even after he has been proven to be a bad guy. If it can be proven that he is LE, then giving out his information on a public forum will not help because they will now know we have caught onto them. This should be done through backchannel. Let's not take a chance either way.
If the circumstances would have been any different, I would not have posted anything...thank you for the compliment, though...I try to be the best I can...and just would like to do the right thing...Maybe next time, I'll backchannel, but I haven't gotten any other flack as of yet...I am open to your input, and I do appreciate your honesty and your opinions on the subject...
