If you're still using the old version of the site, it's ordered by the date/time of the original post.

If you're using the new version of the site, it's more complicated.  If a thread is started as an ad, it is to be marked that way and will drop down the page as more posts appear.  Non-ad posts will rise to the top of the page, ordered by the date/time of the newest post in the thread.  The concept is that active discussions will always be at the top.

There appear to be a couple bugs in the new version as far as ordering goes.  I won't go into details, since it allows for manipulation, but it complicates things enough that the current order more approaches random at this point.  Hope that helps.

I like the Keep It Simple Stupid method. The new DB system sucks balls.

some times the top thread is days old but it has more hits and it comes on top. Absolutely ridiculous. Sorting by date and time is the preferred method for discussion boards and blogs.

Why write so many if statements and fuck it up at the end?

The old version listed the threads chronologically most recent at the top, whereas as now its the thread with the most recent reply appearing at the top. EOM

The ability to view and entire thread, which is available in the new UI, is a nice enhancement over the original UI, as it greatly reduces the number of clicks required to read through each thread. But, not being able to choose the sort method is a definite flaw of the new UI, for people like myself that prefered the chronological sorting of the orginal UI.

I hope that if the new UI is permanent that the developers will continue to make improvements.

I hate to ask this sort of thing, but would you mind white-listing me?  I didn't want to go through your assistant for this...hope you don't mind.

I hope the remainder of your trip to Boston was great!

Although, I'm more of a chaos theorist myself, so true randomness doesn't really exist.

Do they teach Poincaré in provider school?

This makes as random as it can be while driving users crazy.

Indeed, there is nothing truly chaotic, is there? Nope!
