I recently had an appointment booked with a well known, highly reviewed (great reviews!) provider from Atlanta. I have never met her before, but she went out of her way to work out a meeting for me and I really appreciate her trying. Well, life got in the way and she had to cancel, with plenty of notice to me. She felt the need to share proof of her not being able to meet, which I did not request. So here is my question to the men and women, are the women being held to such standards that they feel the need to give proof on why they have to cancel or reschedule? If the men are pressuring them that much, you need to stop that. I mean come on, we all have things out of our control happen and screws things up. I truly felt bad for her feeling the need to prove herself.

Consider yourself lucky

Based upon your description, I think you found a person who actually cares about customer service. I don't think she's being pressured by unreasonable clients. Instead I think she's afraid of losing a potential new client to all the competition in the area. Her willingness to provide proof of her circumstances is perhaps going a little overboard, but it shows she's trying to convince you she's not some flake, who drops appointments for flimsy reasons.

Most of the time people can make things work, especially when they make an effort prior to not say yes to dates who's success is actually largely dependent on the whims of outside chance. (Ex-scheduling plans directly after a flight.) Personally, when I recognized this, I became a lot more reliable (not to mention a better planner), but in the 2 times I've had to cancel over the past year, I've also felt a lot more frustrated that I couldn't find that elusive answer to fix the obstacle.

That is to say, it's possible this has nothing to do with outside commentary, and everything do to with her own views around accountability.
