I will be in your fair city this weekend and know 0 about the dining and nightlife there. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Where is your favorite place to eat and hang out?

Thank you!

a couple of my others- Kimball House Decatur. Six Feet Under- near Ga Tech one of the best views of the city on the deck. Any of  the Rathburn restaurants. Bacchanalia as good as it gets. Last if near Perimeter Area- Mimi's- hidden gem.

Chops is a favorite eating place or try the neighboring restaurants. Then walk a few feet to the St. Regis.

My favorite spots are all very different, but in my opinion are some of the best.

Violette- Fantastic, intimate, french dining tucked away from Clairmont and 85. http://violetterestaurant.com

57th fighters group- My personal favorite. On Peachtree Dekalb airport made to look like an old WWII bunker. Amazing view as the planes come and go and great food. http://www.the57threstaurant.com

The Brick Store- Hip gastropub that has been a staple in Decatur since the late 90's. Best beer list you'll find in Atlanta with an entire upstairs bar devoted solely to Belgian/European selections. Complete with a specially reserved cellar if you have the wallet. http://www.brickstorepub.com

Cafe Intermezzo (midtown)- Amazing European cafe. Coffee, tea, dessert, and wonderful salads, sandwiches, omelets , crepes, and more. Can't go wrong here, and they validate parking from the Loewe hotel. http://www.cafeintermezzo.com

Hope this helps! I've enjoyed reading the list so far myself. Thank you for the post.

I knew I was in an old folks home when I finally got the answer to an age old question. "Just what ever happened to all the leisure suits so popular in the '70's?" lol

Johnny's is actually depressing to see all those old guys dressing up in their finest, trying to relive the days of their youth. Why can't they just fuck hookers like the rest of us here? lol

I love when someone asks a question and others make it about them.

I go to Johnny's about 4 times a year and absolutely love it! I go to dance and that's it. Definitely not a place to pick someone up or be picked up. Just dance and have fun! It's really a fun place for most ladies  as it's not the teeny bopper crowd.

Greasy fast food on an industrial scale.

If you want a burger in Atlanta, go to The Vortex. :)

Used to work at a place that ordered The Varsity to go. After the office workers ate their greasy burgers, hotdogs, fries and peach pies, they all eventually raced to the bathroom for a #2. Lots of upset stomachs.

I went to the Varsity once on an elementary school field trip. Even as a child I thought the food & "atmosphere" were bad. I'm not a big fan of fast food though. I think some like the Varsity for nostalgic reasons  :P

I just don't think The Varsity is a good representation of what Atlanta has to offer.

Don't go disparaging that iconic Atlanta establishment.  I've had more fine meals there than I can count.  Ok "fine" might be stretching it a bit...  And we'd often follow that up with a Krispy Kreme run.  And I'm a perfectly normal, well -adjusted, healthy individual...

Hmmm...  I'm not helping my case, am I?

Nietzsche said "That which does not kill us makes us stronger."

Those heavy dogs will make you pretty damn strong - I guarantee it.  Well, if they don't kill you first.  I bet Nietzsche would've downed a few.  He was a real man.  And like most philosophers he was half crazy.  Which would definitely help in making a trip to the V...

Varsity!!!!????

I take relatives that I do not like there.  Horrid food. I admit that I do not get the attraction. Different horse for different courses.

Perhaps????

Trying to render the young lassie incapacitated from the food. Then have a follow on sessions????

Nope just kidding.

Unless you want the girl farting all night, go elsewhere.

Where is this hijack you speak of?

Or are you just being a bit snippy because no one offered to take you out?

Threads and threADs are hijacked all the time, this one was most certainly NOT hijacked.
