I have been getting this crap bounced back from people I KNOW wouldn't email me on a regular. I have gotten it from people I haven't corresponded with in over a year!
I have put the Microsoft patch and a firewall and am STILL getting it! I need help!!!
If someone can call me or assist me in any way, I would appreciate it!
and it has been eaten up by that damn virus. I have downloaded the patch and totally cleared my computer of that nasty thing.(I think) Rather funny considering I have NEVER had a virus before and I talk about compuers and I get one. Oh well.
Do me a favor and shoot me an email to [email protected] for the next few days.
my inbox at ziplip has been full of bounce backs... and i KNOW my puter is clean... if you have me in your addy book, that explains it... the virus is replicating itself to everyone else in it... so sad.
to everyone out there who doesnt have antivirus installed, GET IT! AND USE IT! (including you sweet brooke somebody should give you a spankin!
Same here - a number of bounce-backs from addresses that are unknown to me. And I know my computer is clean, too. I recommend Panda Platinum 7 for stand-alone computers. They are, IMHO, the best in the business. It can be downloaded from the link below.

Most new viruses spoof the 'sent from'(and or 'reply to') field. This means the virus pulls a name from the address book to use in the 'sent from' 'reply to' fields, not the email the virus actually came from. You and the person listed in the 'sent from/reply to' fields are in the address book of the infected computer. So you won't really know where the emails are coming from. If you are getting a lot of returned mail notices then the virus is using your email in the 'sent from/reply to' field. All you can do at this point is hope that the person who actually has the virus gets their virus protection up to date.
no no no no no... that you are getting bounces doesnt mean you have it! i'm getting bounces from people that arent IN my addy book.
this is just a real fast replicating, spaming kind. most of my bounces are yahoo or aol addys, yours? a lot of the new ones work off the messenger aplets, send to all on your buddy list, get the emails off the buddy list... this could be from some dumb kid in idaho, added you to his buddy list when he found you by accident.
dont fret, just keep deleting them straight from the inbox. if youve scanned and patched and scanned again, you should be all clear... got the patch from a reputable source, right
A co-worker was hit by hundreds of emails with 100KB + attachments. Some of the "reply Mail" adresses were recognizable, BUT they WERE NOT from the listed senders.
This worm replicated the messages and used captured email addresses in the "From" field. So it did not actually come from your acquaintances' computers.
