General question about references

I'd like to see some thoughts about references. Some providers require them. I understand why that is. But what if a past provider decides not to give a good reference because she thinks would prefer that someone always come back to them instead of going to someone new? Is there an ethical standard for that? Do providers tend to give honest references if asked? What if a provider does give a bad reference that is just plain not deserved? Also, is it proper to ask a provider whether she can be used as a reference before using her as a reference? Beyond that, I'd just like to hear any other thoughts that others might have on the subject.

I guarrantee, you will know when your schedule request gets denied.  It will super piss you off, she will lose you and every one you talk too.  She may give you a no or negative referral, but never thinking you will stay with her

Best thing you can do is build your creds.
1). Subscribe to a prescreening group like RS or P411
2). Ask your current friends to whitelist you
3). Post real reviews. Lots of ladies will look up your review history, if your style works with them, you have easier time.  Now don't be a totally scoring pushover, but don't be hard ass either.  If a new lady reads how you scored others, will she feel safe and if ou are fair.
4). If you give a lady as a reference, let her know therequest is coming.  Maybe copy her on the schedule request and remind her of the when and where.
5) think about agency if early in your hobby lifespan.  Screen once, lots of options, good way to build a review portfolio, and the owner typically will act as reference with lesspushback.

If someone is seeing you new without a reference or some basis for you both getting to know each other, don't go see them.  As you get around the block awhile, you can relax this rule, but not ver far
