Discreet communications?

Just curious - the app WhatsApp is used extensively abroad for communicating, especially for hobbying. I find it very useful as it is encrypted and also discreet as the texts can be kept separate from others. I'm just wondering why it's not more common in the U.S. or if any providers here do use it.

Aside from that, what platforms do most use to communicate discreetly?  Just curious as this seems to be an ongoing challenge.

I’m not sure about your question but your question makes me curious due to my meeting someone. A couple of years ago I met a young lady at a pool in Las Vegas. We drank beer together at a pool where we were both staying and met a few more times at the pool during the week. She was from England and her dad had business in Vegas. We stayed in touch over time on the app until she disappeared. She didn’t seem to be a provider bu I’m still naive. lol. Please let me know what I’m missing.

Hello everyone, WhatsApp is a good way to talk, text and video talk to anyone not in the USA or for you to communicate to people back home when you travel out of the country.  You both must be on the internet, WIFI and the other party must download WhatsApp also,  Great way to stay in touch.

I was stuck in Panama for 5 weeks of shutdown and curfew because the Government of Panama's fight with the Virus.  Yes Shaft, I'll tell the long story in another thread maybe tonight.

Wet Dreams to all, JPW

I've heard Whatsapp is not be the most secure texting app you can get.  The new kid on the block and purportedly the best is Signal.

WhatsApp uses the Signal protocol. You are correct; Signal is currently the most secure messaging platform, period.

So what platform do most use, just standard messaging?  I'm trying to avoid that as it seems rather easily discovered.
