Well, not on the day or eve, but the weekend between Christmas and New Year, ever since I was a kid, we've been having "Grandma's Christmas". Grandma had 5 kids (my mom and aunts and uncles) then they had kids (me and my cousins) and now the kids have kids...so it has grown to be HUGE! She used to host us in her cabin in West Virginia, but we were literally coming out of the woodwork lol! So, about 12 years ago, we began renting out a hall. We have a gift exchange, divided by generations lol! And Grandma actually gets gifts for everyone! Two years ago, she must have found some kind of bulk deal or something because she got everyone a vest haha! She had us all put them on and took a picture (panoramic view) and just as she was telling us to say cheese, I screamed, "This is the VEST Christmas EVER!" and everyone cracked up laughing...we had to take it again lol!
Each year since my oldest child was born, before going to bed on Christmas Eve, I read the Night Before Christmas.
Also, they want to hear the story of how on one Christmas, in 1973, a group of close male friends and I rearranged a display of a Santa and Reindeer and Nativity scene on major street in Memphis. It was quite creative. When everyone has left the Christmas tree, I stay behind alone look out the window and drink a toast to those guys.
