Why the horrible looking selfies or even worse mirror selfies when all that needs to be asked is "Hey, do you mind taking a few sexy pictures of me before you leave/before we get started?" "Uhhh, sure!!!I have always wondered about the incredible low quality of the photos that a greater majority of ladies use to represent themselves. To me, it often says "I'm not really into doing this and you guys aren't worth the effort" or, perhaps more accurately, " I really don't know what I'm doing."
An underlying self-esteem issue begs to be ignored.
The K-Girls/K-Dolls always seem to have the most glamorous. It is recognized they are connected with a nationwide consortium/syndicate that is in the business of doing business.
And there are ladies/agencies that will hire Mssr. Aldo as a matter of upgrade. My favorite agency has done so recently and I agree it lifts their image 100% when their images are 100% better.
The most amazing example of independent I have seen that never lacks for a well thought-out picture is Grace Kelly. She really does live up to the glamour and elegance associated with the actress whose moniker she shares. I suspect she has someone follow her around all day with Nikon at the ready to capture a moment of coquettishness. Could it be she is holding Mssr. Aldo captive?!
But then again, you will never see her on BP.
Your question is a very good ponder-point for a snowed in day. Selfies at arms length or taken at a bathroom mirror are typical of teenagers with a compulsive need to have something for the daily post on Facebook or Instagram to amuse their friends (Mssr. Obama's Mandela Memorial Selfie is noted) . Hardly something one would think to represent themselves in a business as an entertainer.
Your suggestion for remedy makes perfect sense. It could be done with the providers own camera - so nothing walks out the door - and there are enough mature mongers among us that have gained some knowledge about frame, lighting, and pose throughout the years.
Will anyone on BP take note of your suggestion?

Aldo is a hack of a photographer, and if you think that his hyper-photoshopped work is some sort of gold standard, then you're not qualified to critique images. I find an enticing selfie to far more appealing than some garbage churned out by a faux professional.
For some reason providers seems to love Aldo. Aldo has definitely found a gold mine.

Normally your trollish tidbits can be dismissed as having no benefit other than making all others appear erudite in comparison, However, your claim of being able to "find an enticing selfie to [sic] far more appealing" does prompt a moment of attention.
Is there a link you can provide to an example that we can all appreciate?
Aldo has done such a great job making average looking women look beautiful, downright ugly women look passable, and good looking women look jaw droppingly (if that's even a word) gorgeous, that all of his pics are suspect in my book, and the books of most experienced mongers.
A picture by him of a seemingly gorgeous looking woman, now carries the same credibility for most of us as a bunch of 10/10 reviews from guys with nothing but 10/10 reviews.
I am not questioning his ability as a photographer, but his reputation now precedes him and I take any photo with his watermark on it with a HUGE grain of salt.

Nor do I spend a lot of time thinking about Aldo. You are what you are, which is a pretty miserable person, and he is what he is, which is a photographer with a horrible reputation for photo shopping his clients to the point that they are virtually unrecognizable from their true appearance.

I saw a chick back in 2012 and another gal recently where the Photoshopped pics made them look gorgeous, but when I saw them in person I nearly panicked wondering how I would get through the session.
They were 6's at best but I still gave them good scores as that's just my personality and I would never want to hurt someone feelings.
But give me the candid cell phones shots any day over the professional pics, but that's just me

Well I know Aldo, and I know he photoshops the pics but, generally he does so only to the extent that the provider who is paying him requests...I do however like the candid "non-pro" shots so I may do a comparison.

Mssr. Aldo's work has been scrutinized, praised, lambasted, and defended on this board. And it is a given that air brush will always be in play due to the prevalence of tattoos that would betray an identity wished to be kept discreet.
I must make correction regarding my earlier comment that a favorite agency of mine used his service. They did not. It was a different photographer used (a woman, I believe) but the results were a measurable upgrade from what had been displayed before on their web site.
But, back to the OP's original topic lest this thread stray too far.

Background choice, composition, awareness of light/shadow/back-light, manipulation of image "temperature", etc. are all qualities that are appreciated and can be enhanced with common picture software without diddling with the subject.
A selfie with some thought that surpasses the impression given of "I've got tits, I've got an ass, my face is a flash or blur or a pouty lipped duck and I know that's all you dirty old mongers want" or "here's a little something I took in the precinct bathroom right before they booked me" would get my attention.
Not as a shill, but an example of what could be a unique selfie with an outstanding message in it's composition is the pic used by Scottie of Atlanta's home page. The pic could have been taken by the male model who is also partially in frame.
The message depicted is one of sensuous GFE. It is also very distinctive in that it acknowledges the presence of someone else - - and that someone can be you!

I've always let it be known that I'm an easy grader I'll give a potential 6 or 7 an 8 if she has a good personality.

...the OP subject is BP selfies. I have to agree that of the ones I've seen on BP he is correct. They are for the most part awful. Not to mention the worst ones we have discussed here which have unexpected "surprises" in the background.
I do like well done selfies though. They do exist. The idea of having a client take the photo after or during the session with the lady's camera/phone is a good idea.
