I'm thinking about traveling to Birmingham Alabama but don't know where there's a good area and hotel. Would love some ideas and input!

Most of the ones on Highway 280 in Inverness are safe and secure. The Marriott chain has some good hotels in that area.

Hoover is on the outskirts and has plenty of nice hotels of all price ranges and is right off the interstate. I have went and met girls there a few times as a half way point for the weekend

Without a question, the best place for hotels in Birmingham is the "Inverness Area".  More precisely, it is the area on Highway 280 From the intersection of Interstate 459 going outward from the city.  That's the best area of town and the best choice of hotels.
