I just finished listening to the live investor call that HP held today regarding the following.
Mark Herd, CEO of HP (Hewlitt Packard), has resigned as a result of sexual harassment allegations from a former HP contractor.
An independent investigation by the HP Board of Directors found that the CEO showed a "profound lack of judgment" by not abiding by the corporate code of conduct.
Long story short, Mark hired the contractor, a pretty marketing consultant, without disclosing that he had a close relationship to her. He then proceeded to falsify expense reports to conceal his ongoing relationship with her. He also approved all of her submitted expense reports, even though many of them were not for business-related expenses (think fully paid getaway trysts to expensive locales).
Apparently, their relationship went downhill and she might have tried to extort money out of him to keep their former relationship a secret.
While CEO, Mark Herd did an amazing job turning around HP and increasing productivity, profitability, and product development. His 5 years of record achievement and efforts are all for nothing now.
I am amazed at how many experienced men, and women, throw away their highly compensated (multi-million dollar) jobs by engaging in this questionable behavior and demonstrating poor judgment while running or working for PUBLIC companies. Those who work for private companies enjoy more leeway with regards to this activity.
This is exactly why I prefer to hobby. No muss, fuss, or drama. Of course, it helps that I'm not married and cheating on my better half.
If more business executives followed this example, they'd still have their jobs today.

He was cleared of any "sexual harassment" charges by an internal HP investigation. BUT they are reviewing his expense reports....seems he may have been skimming from the corp. Why....maybe his affair created the need of some extra finances...lol

Yes, while the news claims he "resigned", you're too smart to fall for that. He was fired and offered a nice severance package to walk away quietly without creating any drama.
HP Corporation's Board is very intelligent (they learned after firing the previous CEO, Carly Fiorina) and handled this latest incident very smoothly and professionally.

I've held several senior executive positions in financial institutions and corporations. I've been privy to how they handle incidents such as this.
When it comes to corporate press releases, things are never as they seem. My favorite is when a release states that the person in question "leaving to pursue other interests".
Some people wonder why corporations bother to lie like that. They ask "Isn't the public to smart to fall for it?"
You'd be surprised. The public as a whole is more gullible than one might think. Case in point: the financial crisis meltdown and resulting taxpayer bailout.
The large financial institutions benefited substantially more from the taxpayer bailout than the public as a whole ever will. If I ran one of the banks, I'd consider sending every taxpayer a "thank you" card for their help. But then, I might change my mind and ask "why bother?"
After all, it's not like any of the public had a say in how its tax dollars were being spent.

impeccable, getting out when you did. I'm amazed at all the NINJA (No Income, No Job or Assets) loans that were given out left and right in my industry. It was a recipe for disaster.
I used to work in Manhattan on Wall Street. Packaging and structuring receivables like those NINJA loans. Cashed out at the right time. Even back then, we all knew that the house of cards was going to fall down. It wasn't a question of if, but rather when.

Providers excel at discretion, as their business model depends on it. Also, the relationship that exists between provider and client is clearly marked and defined. There is on gray murky area.
This also explains why I am wary of providers/agencies who condone crimes like theft or drug use. Among other things, it's a short distance on a slippery slope from those crimes to extortion / blackmail.
The woman who is suing HP and its former CEO, Mark Hurd, for sexual harassment, has hired Gloria Allred to be her attorney.
Gloria Allred is the same attorney hired to represent several of Tiger Wood's mistresses.
The woman in question is serious about going after HP and its former CEO for big bucks now.
Gloria Allred does not render her services for cheap. Both she and her clients expect huge payouts when it comes to legal battles.

Like I said, it's not personal and people shouldn't take it as such. If people are truly upset, I submit that they are subconsciously more upset with themselves than they are with me.
With respect to this issue, I have not told people what they should or shouldn't do. It's there business. I'd just as soon share a glass of wine with you or anyone else, regardless of whether any vows of marriage were broken or not. Whether you or anyone else would reciprocate that gesture is up to you or them.
