DId anyone check out the AJC on the 27th? Says that the video surveillance used is being thrown out and can't be used against any of the men and women arrested in the busts in Dunwoody. Looks like a lot of charges will be thrown out. LEO screwed up big time.

Law enforcement executed a "sneak-and-peak" warrant, modeled after the one in Florida, but Superior Court Judge Gail Flake ruled those kinds of warrants aren't recognized in Georgia, so the authoritizes ended up conducting what amounts to illegal wiretaps, since they didn't obtain warrants to do wiretapping.  Therefore all the videos and all evidence resulting from the videos are inadmisslbe ("fruit from the poisoned tree").  I'm not a lawyer but I'd say this ruling blows a huge hole in the prosecution's case.  Bottom line is you have to follow the law in order to enforce the law.  That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if at the next legislative session, they pass a bill authorizing "sneak-and-peak" warrants.

Glad for those who will have charges dropped but the damage is done....chilled the hobby life in this town, which must have been the objective...?
Also I'm guessing that a lot of other hobbyists who were holding their breath for the last 18 months are able to exhale.

We all new they overstepped their bounds on this one yet all agencies, independents, and "johns" ran for the hills. What a waste of time, money, and energy. Paranoia will destroy ya and that is exactly where we are in #Hotlanta. Meanwhile, the oldest profession in the world moves forward.

As it alway has.

Wish I could have bet on this one....
