I just returned from 10 days, visiting Hanoi, Hue, and Hoi An. First, hotel policies vary. My hotel in Hanoi said guests in the room were permissible before midnight; i.e., no overnight. The Hue hotel rulebook said massages in the room were against the law; I assume that also included sex. My Hoi An hotel rules were quite blunt - no prostitutes in the room.

I arrived in Hanoi with the intention of checking the Wednesday ladies night at some clubs. But I arrived very late and the midnight rule was a constraint. The next night I browsed some of the local indie boards (my hotel room had a computer!) but of course they were all in Vietnamese and undecipherable. I texted a couple of women, and had no replies. I did figure out that the local rate was around $25 for one pop.  The local Backpage was in English and had some possibilities, although the number of listings was small. Whatsapp is popular, so I chatted with "Cherry." She said her pictures were real and wanted 150 USD; I talked her down to $100, and thought I had a date. But she was a no-show, so I moved on to "Joyce." She also wanted $150; I asked her if her pictures were real, so she texted me a few pictures, also assuring me that she had big boobs. We struck a deal at $100, and shortly thereafter a woman showed up. The hotel front desk announced her arrival, so everything was cool. The pictures and description were not of her, but no matter - she was slim, pretty, spoke good English and passionate, providing a close to GFE experience. So I lucked out, albeit at 4 times the going rate!
