I don't think you'll find those scams in HK, but there are some legit clubs where drinks are very expensive. Stick to the free-lancers bars in Wanchai and you'll be ok
I'll be in Hong Kong in a couple of weeks, and have done due diligence, reading up on stuff on the TER board, corresponding with some hobbyists (TER members and others), finding good Web sites, etc.
But, I'd love to hear from anyone as to whether there are any "systematic" scams in HK. Not the isolated ROB one might encounter anywhere, but more organized scams to watch out for.
I ask this because I also travel to Budapest, Hungary, and there, there's a scam in all the strip clubs where a couple of the ladies will come sit down by a guy, the waiter comes and asks if he wants to order them some drinks (and, of course, he does). When the bill comes, it's for $700-$800 (USD). There are mean-looking bouncers at the door, and the poor hobbyist has little choice but to pony up.
Any such things in HK? I want to visit some of the bars, but I'm leery of ordering the lady a drink, in case there's a similar scam there.
