(1) What's the hobbying scene like there (if any)?

(2) Is the city safe for an American?

One thing you should know about Vietnam is that it's illegal after 9pm for a single woman (unmarried couple)  to stay in the same room.  There would be some 2 star hotels that would let you but any of the 4 or 5 stars won't let you unless you book a separate room.  The Tinder App is very useful to find girls.

Unfortunately, they came too late for me, as I'd already left for Hanoi.

I rely so much on TER that I forgot to check other sites that are stronger on the international scene.

So, knowing nothing about the city's hobby scene, I didn't even try any escorts.  Interestingly enough, I got propositioned twice by a hot lady on a motorscooter...but I didn't want to end up in some sketchy place she might have, which who-knows-who in the back room, so I steered clear.

I did get a slew of massages, but only one offered HE.  Nice to get the massages, but disappointing otherwise.  But, the lady who did give HE was a sweetie, and I saw her six times in seven days!

I'm going to Hanoi (and Hue and Hoi An) in a few months, and wondering if there's any new 411 on the subject. In particular, I'm looking for leads on bars and clubs where the escorts hang out. I remember my experience in Ho Chi Minh City a few years ago, where I picked up a cutie in a well-known hangout. She was well-prepared, with a driver (pimp?) and knowledge of a love hotel. It worked out very well; afterwards they dropped me back at my hotel!

....because on my trip, I stuck to walk-in massage places, and nothing else.  I was in a small, family hotel, where I certainly could not take a lady.
