I'm going to be driving through in a few weeks....was considering on making a stop over. I've been told LE can be a real issue. Any information would be appreciated.

I have not been in the hobby long, but I have lived in the Birmingham area all my life and can give some suggestions on where to stay if you are coming to Birmingham. I would stay in the Hoover area along Highway 280/inverness or along Highway 150 which is also in hoover by the Riverchase Galleria Mall. Those are very upscale and with lots of traffic especially on the 280 side.  

Places I would avoid would be the Homewood area. Lots of drugs, theft, and pimps in that area along with LE. From looking at the BP ads which most seem fake they are in that area.

Just keep driving and come to Atlanta where you don't have to worry!
