Best Authenic Southern Food in Birmingham???

Greetings Alabama!

I plan to visit soon for the first time and I have a few questions.  Which areas are safe for a courtesan to stay?  Are there any nature spaces?  I love to hike, walk, run, commune with nature. I have a love for authentic southern food.  I'm not talking Cracker Barrel here, I mean the REAL stuff! Where can I find the real stuff?

Any Info is greatly appreciated!

I was just in Birmingham a few weeks ago. And although I don't remember really seeing anything as far as traditional southern food, there were a lot of really nice areas to eat right around the UAB stadium. Really cool authentic Mexican place directly across the street.

That particular downtown area seems to be a nice place to stay as well. Kinda pricey but definitely pretty nice.  

Now in Atlanta area.... I believe I can tell ya all about a few southern food establishments.  
And don't be hatin' on no Cracker Barrel!🤣🤣
