Best Authenic Southern Food in Birmingham???

Greetings Alabama!

I plan to visit soon for the first time and I have a few questions.  Which areas are safe for a courtesan to stay?  Are there any nature spaces?  I love to hike, walk, run, commune with nature. I have a love for authentic southern food.  I'm not talking Cracker Barrel here, I mean the REAL stuff! Where can I find the real stuff?

Any Info is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the info.  I tour Atlanta too so any suggestions there would be appreciated as well.

LOL...Ok, no hating on Cracker Barrel!  I actually do like them ;)

I've fallen in love with Birmingham.  Not only can I find excellent food, the people are great and the city is nice. Birmingham has become one of my regular tour stops, some UTR, some are advertised. I'm here now and I love it!!!
