This post probably won't last long, but Cheetah, the chimp who starred in the 1930's Tarzan movies, passed away recently at age 80. I had no idea they lived that long! The hi-lite of those movies for me was seeing Jane run around in her skimpy jungle outfit. The gal had some serious legs!

Goes to show what a life of luxury can do for one.  Most chimps in captivity die at around age 45.

Tarzan (Before the advent of Harry Potter) was the most successful fictional entertainment franchise of all time, and Cheetah was a part of that success.

I remember Saturday mornings with Tarzan too. Tarzan Theatre is what the TV station called it. Sometimes it was Johnny Weismuller and Maureen O'Hara sometimes one of the others. One of the first with Maureen O'Hara had the typical "let's go swimming" scene in which she was naked and you could clearly see that she was. Yes, it was underwater but there was no doubt. This was discussed and demonstrated on the Classic movie channel when they featured that film.

In fact, she's about the only thing I remember about any of those movies.  I guess I'm really no different today.  You could put a beautiful woman in front of a mushroom cloud and I'd only see the beautiful woman (at least until my face melted).

BTW, I had no idea chimps could live to be 80.

...The article mentions lying about one's age and flinging poo.  Sounds like a typical day on the TER boards. ;)
