Tamsulosin Alternatives

I have been on Tamsulosin for BPH. It helps a lot for the BPH, eespecially at night, but has two negative side effects:

1) Occasional light headedness when I stand up
2) Retrograde ejaculation

I asked my doctor for an alternative and he had me try Alfuzosin. After a few weeks I found it better on the two side effects, but it didn't work very well for my BPH.  So, I am back to looking for alternatives to Tamsulosin that avoid the two negatives.

Any advice from your experiences?

Every med can work differently and every med has potential side-effects.  A buddy of mine has decided to skip the meds and try prostate artery embolization. It's a minimally invasive procedure in which an Invasive Radiologist injects a solution into the main prostate artery. The solution contains microscopic particles that occlude small arteries and cut off blood supply causing the prostate to shrink over time. His urologist highly recommends this procedure as an alternative to surgery and to a lifetime of medication.

Thanks. I had the same procedure done three years ago and had high hopes. Unfortunately, it only provided minimal relief that went away altogether in about a year.

That's disappointing.  The majority of patients have symptom relief for several years. You may benefit from a second procedure.
