Absolutely - I am still in touch with a few of my friends from high school - mostly email and facebook contact though as we are spread out all over the country.  Unfortunately, my closest friend passed away about three years ago - that was a bit sobering. They say that old friendships  are like a good vintage wine, they only gets better with the passing of time.

I kept in touch for a couple of decades after high school and then completely lost touch.  now we're all on FB and know details of even not-so-close friends.  pretty amazing

there was one I was in touch with but something happened (long story); and now I really don't know anyone outside of family from school days.

There are a few people I do keep track of from when I was in my 20s, however.

I have kept in touch with most of my circle of rinds since high school.(about 20) and through them other people. We have a very active reunion committee and hold  a number of events each year. The most important being Homecoming.
Facebook grew the number of people I knew what they had done and are doing in life but I wouldn't say I am in touch with most of them. I have a circle of close lifelong friends who have remained a part of my life an my families for decades and will continue to.
I have of course met new friends as well. My best friend though I have known since I was born. Our families have lived next to each other for over 100 years.
It makes for large and eventful holidays.

high school was not so much fun. there was a lot of baggage that i could have probably overcome if i were more outgoing, but i'm not. i'm an introverted geek. a refined, cultivated, suave and debonnaire introverted geek, to be sure, but... anyway...

college was much better and it was there i discovered i could get along with a rather wide range of people. many of whom remain friends or at least friendly today. (Xmas greetings and newsletters don't count, LOL!)

to have stayed in close contact with many friends from high school and college.  Although we leave in different places, we have managed to stay in touch.  In fact, ten friends whom I have known for over 40 years came from out of town for my 60th birthday party.

You are very blessed  my dear mother  always  say if  you die  with 3 great friends  you are doing well
