Serious topic here gents.  I recently read a review in which the hobbyist described his date's offer of a shower and also requested he brush his teeth and even provided a nice new toothbrush which he thought was a nice touch.  But I think brushing your teeth before a date increases the risk of transmitting hepatitis C.  Hep C is only transmitted via blood, so normally it's very low risk unless there's broken skin or open wounds.  A very savvy provider explained to me several years ago that brushing your teeth can sometimes irritate the gums and soft tissue to cause bleeding, sometimes so slight that you don't notice.  If 2 people do this, then kiss, there's a risk of transmitting the infection.  She recommended not brushing your teeth for at least 45 minutes prior to a date, and even longer is better.  If you're concerned about fresh breath use mouthwash.  I always chew some gum before meeting a date and have even been complimented on my minty fresh breath.  But don't brush your teeth right before a date.  Your thoughts?
