So like most people, I guess low just to make sure I'm safe.  Even so, a couple times I still guessed too high and hurt her feelings.

The only thing worse is asking her if she's pregnant when she's not!   I won't make that mistake twice.  Now, I won't ask a woman if she's pregnant even if she's in the hospital and the nurse is telling her to push!  I always let someone else go first and take the bullet.

You really make me grin big time! And I'm betting you were dressed way snappier than she was! Were you in your penguin suit?

on occasion I'll ask a provider " how old do you think I am"?  and generally they'll be off by 10-20 years ie asked a gal yesterday and she said " 43" ( i'll be 59 next month)

was she just bad at guessing ages?
didnt wanna hurt my feelings if she guessed older than I am?
I'm older than I look?
or just being PC ?

but would a not so nice answer hurt some peoples feelings. Suppose you guess older than the person is ? Guessing a persons age is not exactly a good position to be put in for anyone. A better alternative is to say your age and then if the lady wants to add "you look so much younger" or "I would have never guessed that" she isn't put in a political correct position and can answer if she likes.

You perform like a 43 year old and it confuses them.  lol   But really, your with a beautiful sexy woman and you are worried about how old you look.  What really counts is how old you feel.  And I find when I am with a wonderful lady that is really good I feel like I am 20 years younger, sometimes younger.  


p.s. If she ask you how old you thought she was, would you be real honest???  Just wondering.

I like your age. Now my curious mind  is aroused.

My stomach ties up in knots when ever I'm asked that question & I rarely give a straight answer. In fact, I will typically tell the inquiring party "please don't ask me that, I am horrible at guessing ages" (It's actually true BTW) If the person pushes the issue, I wil reply with an age range. "Oh, around 40-45?"

Frankly, I think there is way too much emphasis put on appearance causing people to wrinkle early with worry about those inevitable gray hairs & love handles. (which I simple adore BTW)

my question  is why ask  in the first place  who care  how old you look its more about the person you are  then how you look....

That is how I look at it as well. The answer? Social pressure. At least that is my conclusion. I remember when I was young, I wouldn't check the mail w/o being fashionably dressed, hair in place, make-up perfect. I checked the scale & the mirror countless times daily & more often than not, thought I was too fat. I was an athlete & weighed 105lbs wet! Thankfully those days are over for me, but not so for everyone.

Now here in the Hobby Community, the pressure is as strong if not stronger to look youthful. You see it all the time on the boards. Fat jokes, Jokes about people over 30, not to mention the malicious banters. I don't think the guys are immune to the social expectations of remaining Ken any more than the ladies are expected to remain forever Barbie. It's just not discussed as openly related to gents as it about the ladies.

I think most people when asked to guess the age of another low ball (no pun intended Hmmmm ok maybe there is) the age.

Now I did say most. I turned 62 on this past Wednesday, when they heard that  the guys at the VFW could not believe it they said I do not look a day over 70....I did get a few beers on the house.

Not only on this world but in my civie and professional life, people tend to under state my age by a decade ..... and I'm thrilled. I feel and act like a man in his 50s. What a blessing. When asked, I turn around the questioner and say "how old do you think I am", smile at the inevitable response, and then proudly tell the truth!

When men or women ask me that question I suspect they are wanting to hear they look younger.  I try to err on the young side, and suspect she did too.

a full white beard, and I've lost what little bit my physique may have once looked like the Ken dolls, so nobody is going to peg me at under 50-55.  But since I'm a lot older than that I do enjoy the surprise in someone's voice when I tell them my true age.  I usually (but not always) try to not put them on the spot by asking the 'How old do you think' question but rather try to make it an 'I'll bet you didn't think I'm XX old' and usually after we've already had some fun.  OK, it's an ego boost to be told I look a lot younger than I am, but I really think I do (otherwise why doesn't anyone ever give me their seat on the subway?).  Interesting topic--I think we all probably err on the side of flattering when discussing age with a lady, not sure I'd call it  lie.

It depends on many things. Maybe she really had no idea. Some men age remarkably and do look 10-20 years younger than their actual age. Many men take care of themselves well and do look younger. Some women on the other hand just can't guess an actual age because they may not have ever been around that age group...stranger things have occurred.

I figure the guy who has to guess your age, or you win a prize, has the most incentive to get it right.

However, you may have reasons for looking younger/older than you are, and he can recognize it and adjust for it.

for instance a friend, brother, lover , dad..who ever and guessed you to be around their age.
Or she may have been using the guess low and make them smile technique that works so well for you gents,because you know how much trouble YOU are in if you guess too old on a lady's age

Now that being said.  You are a good looking "in your 50's" guy.  I am 46.  I have never lied about my age.  So since I am honest about it, many people assume I am even older!  A lady who is honest about her age just cannot win!  LOL

I don't think the providers are lieing to you.  But they may be laying it on a little thick just to be nice/complimentary.  I personally don't do that.  But I would have probably guessed you to be 50-52.

sometimes I let them know or it might be something  else  like your  veryhandsome or  what a great kisser you are.....some thank me and others say I bet you say that to everyone! NOT true I will try to find something nice to break  the ice.....but if you had a big nose I would not say anything  same with age please do not ask me that I hate guessing and that just gives them a chance to try and figure out how old I am  shoot I do care anymore  the older I get  the less it matters ....long as the phones rings and guys have a nice experience  I am a happy Lady !
