I already do what I call a meet and greet with many of my clients/friends on yahoo and skype before I met them.  I do it to build up a good repore with them.  Getting to know them before meeting them the first time has helped many of my clients/friends feel more at ease with me and they had appeared to get past that uncomfortable first meeting type of feeling by meeting me and chatting with me by the time we finally met in person.  Many have thanked me for taking the time to chat with them on yahoo and skype before meeting them and said it made a big difference in how our session ended up going when we finally did meet.  Plus I also keep them on my messenger long after we have met and we still talk occasionally, but I never initiate a conversation until I see them come online.  I don't leave offline messages!  That's dangerous!  Protecting my friends comes first with me.  I have many friends that I had met years ago that I still chat with on messenger.      But as far as chatting with them before our first meeting, I think it had helped many that I chatted with before hand relax more with me and they enjoyed their time with me even better than they would have if we hadn't taken the time to break the ice.   I wish more of my clients/friends could do this with me all the time.
