clergy get busted in prostitution stings, but it seems like a lot because it always makes the news. Nobody cares of Juan the gardener gets busted, so you never hear about the vast majority of cases.
but maybe I’m not the guy to say it. Lost some prime years to it. One of my few regrets in life.
There’s also something to be said for knowing whether you’re sexually compatible with the person you’re about to marry. Just reconnected with an ex and between all the scratching, biting, choking, slapping, and spanking, I didn’t know if we were having sex or re-enacting an MMA match.
And I thought to myself, I almost signed up for this for life. How would I have felt walking into this blind on a wedding night? Or three months into a lifelong contract?
It would be great if some of these purity people admitted even Jesus said the purity rules aren’t for everybody
One, I saw in my everyday life when I went to a christian college. Most of the kids got married young, and I'm talking WAY to young...because it was the only "acceptable" way to get their rocks off.
The other phenomenon related to purity/abstinence can be observed in the daily news. Hundreds, probably even thousands of priests in the catholic church have sexually abused the children in their care. It's a direct consequence of sexual repression; the more you repress your sexuality, the more it is going to manifest itself in bizarre forms.
In my case, I was unable to find a christian wife at the college (I was a bit "different" than most mainstream evangelicals). Consequently, I decided that christian women were undesirable and ditched the "purity" crap. Another step on my road to Atheism, and my road to hobbying, I suppose.
