Newbie - FAQ

Words of (ahem) wisdom for the newbies...please read!

I'm convinced that I've moderated this board entirely too long and my nice guy veneer is wearing thin.  In the interest of keeping that razor thin level of sanity, I'd like to suggest that newbies search at least 3 pages for your question being answered before asking it again.  You'll find that many questions have been answered almost weekly, such as...

* Why won't my post get approved?
* How do I get a reference?
* How can I tell if she's LE?
* How can I tell if she's legit?
* How does screening work?
* Agency vs. independent?
* How long do I wait before trying someone else?

The regular posters here do a great service to the community, and I'd like to personally thank them for their help.  Still, when you ask for help, please understand that the answers you get are often no more than opinions.  They may not always be correct.  It's still your responsibility to process the information wisely.

I'm not a lawyer, and it's been a couple weeks since I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express...oh, and it wasn't even in the US, so I'm not sure if it even counts.

..the default day range from 30 to 300 or even 3000.  You'll find hundreds if not thousands of posts using key words like "LE", "references", "screening", etc.  We don't mind helping as long as you help yourself first and not just asking without doing your homework.

Some forum software has a feature that pegs certain locked threads to the top of the list but TER "Discussion Boards" can't do that (or can they?). Useful titles are "Read This Before Posting", "FAQ: New Users Must Read" and similar.

We can probably come up with a consensus short, readable FAQ post here. Can the Newbie moderator post it to the top of the board every 5-10 days or so? Or as often as needed to keep it near the top? Can it be done automatically by the TER software? Does the moderator have software on his computer to upload it automatically?

If it can't be easily re-posted, can TER change the content of the header on the Newbie page (edit their actual html) to put a short fixed paragraph ABOVE the posts in large, bold face type: "Read This Before Posting: [message about FAQ, etc.]"

I haven't read the FAQ in a while but it should answer FREQUENTLY asked questions and the original post pretty much hit the nail on the head about the FAQs that show up here over and over and over again.

I haven't read the newbie FAQ in a while, but I am sure that some of these topics are not included there.

Maybe add some of the links for discussions of these to the "Newbie Primer". Also, the topics in the primer could use some better "Titles" other than the thread title, so aid searching there.

Maybe group them by gross topic LE, references/screening, etc.

AMP questions pop up frequently on this board, but I don't see any AMP help in the different FAQs.
If I missed it, sorry in advance.  --z

helping newbies (prefer to help providers LOL) but would rather they learn to use the search function.

Play safe everyone.

You probably know this already and there's some good reason this forum doesn't have stickies, but just in case you don't know.... Stickies are special moderator posts that permanently stay at the top of the forum, for all to see, all the time.  Perhaps that feature would work well here.

It seems to be more of a reading comprehension issue.

until she finds me in the grocery store and offers me up her services. I'm to chicken shit too make the first move so I'm hoping that there's a provider in my neck of the woods that shops at the same place I do and reveals her secrets. LOL.  Hey I definately appreciate the boards here and all the info and stories and what nots. I've caught myself reading way back through the pages frequently, soaking it all in. Board Mods are the most under appreciated bunch. Even the mail man and bus driver get xmas gifts. Thanx.
