"Who the hell makes those things???"  It's funny you should ask, because I know.  I live in the town (a small one at that) of one of the largest erotica mfgrs.  They make everything (and I do mean, "Everything"!).  Most of "those" products are assembled with the factory "staff" consisting of mostly women in their mid-50's.  Like many factories or assembly plants, they stay open all the time churning out their goods.  They don't pay that much, but the work environment is supposedly pretty good from what I hear.  They're basically always hiring, as they need more staff to handle the growth.  The flexible shifts lends itself to lots of middle aged women.  From moms that only want to work during the day while the kids are at school, to women who work this as a 2nd job.  A lady that I know who works in my company's credit dept. by day, goes in for a few hours every evening to assemble dildos for some extra money.  She's in her late 50's or early 60's (has been working at both places for a long time), and it cracks me up to imagine her at her "other" job.  On the surface, she appears real naive and sweet.  She doesn't go around talking bout her other job much, so if you "didn't know", you'd never believe it.  But, she's not ashamed of her 2nd job (nor should she be as it's honest work), and she's often told me that it's more enjoyable than her day job.  

A few years back HBO did an "inside look" at the company as well as the "industry" for their "Real Sex" series.  My co-worker told me that the show pretty much, "Nailed it" in terms of how they portrayed things.  While some of you wander around and see a hot lady and wonder, "I wonder if she provides?", I chuckle at the thought of the ladies that I see everyday in my town (hot or not) who assemble dildos for a living.
