If I can get out of my daily obligations one of these days, I'm gonna have to visit. Good to know people other than WMPigs go there for vacations.
LMFAO >>> "People go down there for the volcanoes, to surf, for the rain forest, to fish, and I have heard that all those activities are kind of fun. I will have to try them one of these days. lol"First class, business class, prestige?
or do you typically travel coach or economy?
What are your reasons for choosing either? Do you feel that you sometimes spend more money on upgrades than saving toward retirement?
Looking back, the only times I got first class were when I was traveling with a civvy date or on special occasions. Partly cuz I don't want the girl whining and partly for our date to feel a bit more luxurious. It's mostly from knowing the girl's preferences though. If the upgrades are very cheap then in that case it's a no brainer but usually I travel cheap even tho I can afford them cuz I'm a frigging scrooge.
and to spend that money for a few hours is a waste to me .
you can see a provider for the money
go to a ball game
buy a new suit
get three pairs of decent shoes
etc..
to Europe okay but traveling around the u s questionable and many girls can be seen on the ny to vegas flights a lot of pretty ladies ...

but I almost never have to pay to upgrade to first class on domestic flights as I have maintained Platinum status on at least one airline for the last many years, right now I have status with both US/American and Delta, and get free upgrades over 90% of the time.
BTW "rich" people don't fly first class. Truly rich people have their own damn planes. If I ever become rich, I will never fly commercial again.
okay . I have the points also and the 2 for tickets have plat. for over 25 years etc.. what im saying is for me personally .. last few times it wasn't worth it . small cabin and overpriced. doesn't do it for me anymore and I try to fly when its quiet . certain seats are okay ..
know im sure you remember when you could upgrade for 2 to 3 hundred at the gate , why they did away with that will never know. also larger planes and a better value . know first class is a glorified chair and no real cabin to move around .
and yes chartered jets are the way to fly .

I also get stuck on those small commuter jets when flying in and out of small airports. Anything more than an hour or two on one of them is a living hell. I am of pretty average size, about 5' 10" and 170 lbs, and I can barely fit into one of those seats. I can't imagine the discomfort that someone 6' 4" and 260 lbs must endure.
A lot of airlines have started to try to encourage passengers to pay for first class by narrowing the gap between coach and first class fares. I fly American from DFW to SJO on a pretty regular basis and I have noticed that quite often the coach fare is about $800 and first class is only $1,100, for only a three hundred dollar difference I usually just go ahead and pay the extra money and that way I don't have to worry about whether or not I will get upgraded. I've noticed that Delta has started doing the same.
up to the terminal and some asshole is telling my driver to pull away . then theres the shoe check and no seats and the person carrying half the house cause you cant check bags and they have to weigh about 12oz or you pay and then the 5 dollar bottle of water that's fucking warm and no smoking and well should I go on . then the shit plane that's retrofitted with seats from the 60s so exactly I want to get the fuck on and get the fuck off and im not paying more than I should for shit service . just like here . bring back real air travel and yes I will . and would rather have the 1500 to 2k in my pocket to spend on me . yeah im selfish .

Sure come in handy as much as you fly
I already get the free upgrades when I travel domestically or to Latin America.
I use them a lot when buying travel for others however. I sometimes fly a certain FWB from Atlanta out to see me for a few days at a time. It only costs me 25,000 sky miles for a round trip ticket. The last I checked, between Am Ex points and Delta miles I have over 500,000 sky miles available, so I can fly here back and forth once a month for a couple of years without ever spending a penny on air fare.
I can't think of a better way to use them than on a dime piece lol!
Whew 500,000 sky miles... man that's a shitload of sky miles you've accumulated
can fit in those seats better than un bigger guys.
She does prefer it when the two of us go somewhere together. She knows I won't sit in coach and that I would never stick her in coach while I flew first class, so she knows she'll be sitting up front with me.
The first couple of times we went somewhere together, about five years ago, she was thrilled just to be able to get "served" on an airplane. She wasn't 21 yet and she loved sitting in first class drinking fruity drinks. lol
Now she is an "old woman" of twenty five and it's tougher to impress her. The good news is that we don't get funny looks when checking into hotels together like we did when five or six years ago. lol
I use to fly to Florida every other weekend. I would leave Friday night and return Monday morning. It was a nonstop flight. One time the flight was booked because of a holiday or special event, so I had to book a different airline with a stop over in Atlanta. It was the last flight of the night. The ticket cost $170 rt. When I got to Atlanta and to the next gate they announced the flight was oversold and were offering a $900 airline voucher, hotel room, a food voucher and a flight out on the first plane the next morning. I accepted. Then I booked five more flights to Florida with that airline with their money. Four of the flights were a repeat of the first one. I flew for over a year for free and was getting upgrades to first class because of all the miles I was flying.
Nothing better than first class with free drinks, rubbing shoulders with the rich and, well, probably GaG!
The Forest Waits
yeah I used to pay around 210 for tickets and if something little went wrong you got a voucher all you had to do was call up and give the flight number and they sent discount on next flight , late voucher , noisy voucher, lost suitcase voucher , etc.. now they tell you fuck you ..im not paying for that shit .. get me in and out ..

I'd much rather fly cheap and upgrade the place I sleep.
designer bags when you mentioned the word "Coach".. LOL
I may splurge for a few high end things based on name brand where it really makes a difference (lingerie, for example) but I'm often haunting thrift stores and yard sales for entertainment. There are already too many things "made" in this world, I prefer to find treasures in the stuff others are done with - including my handbags. And hey, you actually can find Coach at GoodWill if you look long enough. I just don't bother.
Some of us have severe phobias!
Do you plan on driving 2000 miles? lol
I guess there's always amtrak
East coast isn't too long of a drive. West coast is a little much, though.
I drove to Ft. Lauderdale once. Sucked.

get to my driveway you have reached your destination .

And then have some nice Asian flight attendant get you a scotch on the rocks.
Next thing you'll know is you landed in Costa Rica.
You'll be very popular there. No NYC rates....but then living is cheap too.
And no snow

The only two things I can think of that are cheaper there than here are rent and pussy. Virtually everything else costs at least as much as it does in the states, many things are quite a bit more.
As you well know, we had primo places right on the beach for $55 a night. But, yes, the food's about the same price, though we barely ate two meals a day. Great weight loss plan.
Many times I've only averaged one meal every two days instead. Unless you consider cerveza y tequila a "meal" of course.
Beaches?
Believe it or not, people other than whore mongering pigs go down there for vacations.
People go down there for the volcanoes, to surf, for the rain forest, to fish, and I have heard that all those activities are kind of fun. I will have to try them one of these days. lol Actually I have done all of the above, with the exception of surfing. Even though I am really a California boy who grew up on the Pacific Ocean, I still never got into surfing.

Sometimes as cheap as $200, but rarely and some of the ladies are trying to get $500, but I would say that if you meet a chica in the evening and offer her $300 for the night, 90% of the time she will accept.
Hallucinating on a flight isn't good for anyone.
pretty much the entire country, from Florida to Washington state, California and Maine, and just about everywhere in between, in my car.
When I bought my current car in May, 2012 it had 99,000. Today it has !80,000+
True story
but I don't travel enough to make it make sense. Good for you if it works, I'd love to fly that way!
Complete waste of money otherwise, First class on domestic other than if you are flying cross country. Is silly. Seriously.
But I fly on stand-by(which is a whole other pain in the ass) only so I pay the same amount no matter first, coach,or business.
If I had to pay full fare it would be coach depending on where I am traveling to unless I could get a great deal on a first class fare
I can pretty much deal with flying from Nola to NYC or LA, but not to freaking Paris. If a guy is paying and he wants to waste money on first class so I can get drunk before seeing him, no problem but the only time I have done first class flying in the U.S. was when they offered you the upgrade at check in for like 100 bucks more. If my flight was longer than 3 hours, I usually took the upgrade. I refuse to fly Delta or U.S. and try my best to stick with Southwest. I hate the Atlanta and Charlotte hubs with a passion.
For 3 years straight I was in the air four times a month, and it gets old really quick. Had I used first class that entire time, I would not have a savings account now but I am not rich. Most of the people in first class are in there because their company is paying for it. When I was a pharm rep, we often flew first class for trips longer than three hours and there was usually a group of us.

gig. But I have learned it's important to be 'comfortable' which for me doesn't always mean 'first class' on a flight. Flights are flights and our of our control for the most part.
However, my accommodations...totally different story. My room, my 'space' wherever it may be, has to be the best (in my eyes with what I'm after) or for me it ruins the trip. That comes from travelling everywhere and experiencing all different levels of hotels. I've got it down to a science now in booking and I'd say a good 98% are spot on. New York City is probably the only city that no matter how much research you do, it's a crapshoot until you open that door and are standing in the room lol. I've requested a 'change' in rooms 3x in the last 2 months. Simply unacceptable sometimes especially when I'm the one 'hosting'. It's important (to me). Presentation is everything.
certainly can have lots more memorable stays there at your 100 minutes or whatever it is you are trying to book lol. I prefer something more on the modern 'new school' tip, not the classic 'old school' tip, but that's me personally. Enjoy yourself BD!
