Dear TER members,

This is to inform you that the Love Goddess will not be available to answer any questions from Aug 13 to Sept 9, 2007, so please be so kind and hold your questions until then.

The Love Goddess will travel to Karakoram and K2, where there are no computers or any means of communication. If you need to vent or comment, the General Discussion board is open 24/7, and believe it or not, you may get some very interesting answers.

Otherwise, LG will be with you again happily on September 9, 2007...unless she will be stuck advising Osama and his buddies on how to beat premature ejaculation and falling in love with curly sheep...

Maybe you've already left, but just want to say not long ago I made 2-3 trips from Islamabad into China on the Karakoram.  It's spectacular, but you wouldn't do it every day.  Stop in Fairy Meadows in the shadow of Nanga Parbat if you have time -- the walk up to the base camp is rather easy and it's beautiful.  But be careful -- there are some nasty people in those areas, and they don't like foreigners.  Also planned a trek to K2 base camp, but had to cancel.  That's one of the best treks anywhere, but tough. Have a wonderful trip and tell us about it when you return.  Cheers!

I'm sitting here in a cubicle of a really sweaty guest house, typing away! Last chance before we hit Skardu tomorrow and all computers magically disappear!

Thanks for the advice on Fairy Meadows. I'm doing the Baltoro trek and possibly going up to C1, beyond Base Camp on K2. I'm here with Simon Yates, from "Touching the Void" fame. And 15 other Aussies. Being the only American is a weird experience...I've already been flagged as the "ugly American" because I dared ask for hot water in my bathroom...sheesh!

Leave your questions for me when I return, I promise to answer them if I come down from the mountain in one piece,

Am I envious!  Weather was always awful every time we tried to do Baltoro, so please give us a report on return.  Safe trekking!
