Yeah, I love that Julia Roberts movie too, but there are others as well that aren't so damn fantasy.

Anyone like Rebecca DeMornay/Tom Cruise in "Risky Business"? Jennifer Garner/DiCaprio in "Catch Me If You Can"?

Got any others?

Watched Monster didn't know that was Charlize Theron till end of movie, great acting! did not look like Her!

She gained like 50 lbs for that role and what they did to her face, hair, and teeth was amazing. Could not even recognize her. Ricci looked horrible too for that matter, but in Black Snake Down or Black Hole Down lol, she was ripped!

Belle du Jour
Klute
Breakfast at Tiffany's (yes, Holly is a call girl)
Leaving Las Vegas
Night Shift
Blazing Saddles ("it's twue! It's twue!")
Nights of Cabiria
Trading Places

Never saw any of those with the exception of Breakfast at Tiffany's and Leaving Las Vegas.

On a side note...American Courtesans made it to "On Demand"!!! Go Kristen!

Holly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Well Done! A Classic!

Jerry Mcquire.

Love that woman.

..the 'whores' are a central part of the theme of the movie.    especially like how they wove the use of the term 'free ones' in the movie in a couple of scenes

Eastwood's character is one of my favorites - he never has sex with any of the 'whores',  the respect factor between him and them, the movie definitely challenges how society views 'underworld' people, as they are the most dignified characters in the entire movie.

Great Movie, Maybe His best!

"Better not cut up, nor otherwise harm no whores... or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons of bitches."

'and I'll kill him, and I'll burn his house down'  - loved that line

Virtuous man, that Eastwood!

Leaving Las Vegas
Requiem for a Dream (she prostitutes herself in the way of the sexual acts, not necessarily one on one with multitudes of men)

Favorite:

House of Pleasure. It's all in french with subtitles. It explores the world of a 19th century french brothel. It's on netflix. It's not the most riveting movie, but it does provide a lot of inside and information on how it was. I'm into history and this might of gotten it close to right (well, not when it comes to the wild cat). More modern movies that feature prostitution I find lacking in that they either glamorize it too much, or deaden it in an attempt to make it more real (soderbergh's the girlfriend experience, anyone? please!). This movie does not stand on its own as a movie, but specifically within the niche of this thread, it's my favorite.

Taxi Driver, Klute, Belle du Jour, Monster, all of the ones mentioned in this thread- all good!

Kiss me,

Kate

Deuce Bigalow  Male Gigolo! Lol

... really good utr flick.  Anyone see it?

It was considered scandalous back when it was made.  Featured a young Susan Sarandon as a New Orleans hooker during WWI.  Brooke Shields, only 14 at the time, played her daughter whose virginity is auctioned off to the highest bidder.  I stayed at the hotel in the Garden District where the interiors were shot.  It was called "The Columns."

Yea, that was a bit much to take...still is, actually. Many of the original brothels in New Orleans are now apartment buildings.

Is "The Columns" still open as a bar and hotel?  Great place, right on St. Charles.

Malena with Monica Bellucci with director Tornatore.  It is a story placed in Sicily during WWII when a young widow lady with no more cash turned to the oldest profession.  It is actually a wonderful (but sad) movie with great coreography and actors.

Not a big-name film, but "The American" with Italian actress Violante Placido and American mumbler George Clooney.

Placido plays an Italian hooker (my dream). She's really hot in the movie, especially when she's wading in the stream.

When she and her friend run into Clooney at a cafe, and she flashes her fabulous blue eyes at him, I melt. Every time I see that movie I want to find a beautiful Italian hooker and run away with her. ;)

here was a French movie from last year called 'Elles' which is worth checking out. It stars Juliette Binoche as a journalist interviewing two students working as providers for a magazine

Her parents are divorced. No one knows that Aleksandra runs personal ads under the nickname, “Slovenka” (The Slovenian Girl) and that prostitution is her secret source of income. She’s very good at manipulating others (including her father and ex-boyfriend), is an accomplished liar and a bit of a thief. She resents her mother and regards her as being selfish. Her ambition is to escape the banality of her home town and settle in the big city, but her clandestine job leads her to a dangerous encounter with local criminals.

Surprised cineaste forgot this one.  Comedy.  Huge international hit in 1960.  Melina Mercouri won best actress at Cannes, four Oscar nominations, won for music.  Most pro "profession" of them all.  B&W, available on Netflix streaming.

Sophia Loren's role as a high-end prostitute in the 3rd vignette (Mara of Rome) in "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" is an absolute classic. I've been in love with Sophia Loren since the 1960's, and think she's the most beautiful woman of all time, so I'm a bit prejudiced.

If I could find a provider like Mara, I think I'd sell my house and everything else I own just to be with her as long as possible.

Fantine was the only hooker in there (that was featured)...but hard to not feel sorry for her while she died.

Maybe that john shouldn't have only given her a 4/2...she seemed to go downhill after that  :
