If I am not wet it means I am NOT aroused just yet, and lube is not going to do much good because that is your body's way of telling you things are not ready. So the spit does actually work to rehydrate in porn situations. Most people recommend water based lubes as opposed to silicone... And I don't know anyone that would ever recommended oil based.

It is not uncommon in those porn shoots for the guy to outlast the lube during anal. As well as sometimes the scene does not allow for stop to lube up and then restart. So there left with spit 2 basically re activate the lube as the water evaporates.

Yes, saliva makes great lube. I use it all the time. But there's a huge difference between discretely using spit as lube and deliberately making a big show of hocking up a was of spit on a guy's cock. One is practical and real; the other, pure pointless spectacle.

It is a fact.  It has enzymes in it. It is the beginning of the digestive process right after biting and chewing. So, it lends to reason that it could damage a single cell, thus interfering with transmission.

On the other hand, there are other STIs that can be spread by spit, too.

Just curious if the general spit preference also applies for non-hobby lubing with the SO.  Assuming that no condom is used, skillfully chosen oil-based lubes can combine massage and sex very romantically.  Plus, many older women just cannot produce natural lube sufficient for intercourse and something must be used.  I find spit, or water-based lubes, to be far inferior to good oil lubes if I don't have to worry about damaging a condom.  Just some thoughts.
