I can't help but think he is just doing his own spin control in hopes of garnering further gainful employment for himself.
He was a democrat then a republican, who knows what he'll be next? I imagine he'll adopt the politcs of whomever is paying him.

I'm just surprised the White House hasn't already begun a massive spin campaign to counter Dowds comments.
They always have in the past (O'Neill, etc.), so why not now?
They have finally realized that the Congress lacks the will, or the balls or whatever it takes to stand up to them, and that there is noone to punish them. They simply don't give a fuck what you or I think.
It is truly the Imperial Presidency.
