However, it has not been my experience at all that they expect the unexpected or get upset with me because their condition may be limiting their enjoyment. Yes, I am on the larger side, and I always let people know ahead of time before anything is set up so that if they are not comfortable they can simply say no ... no hard feeling. So far, no one has.

1. I agree that we should be ready to go. If we're not, then you're only obligated to stay for the time agreed upon. If we can't get it up, then that's on us.
2. We should absolutely shower and wash up. If a shower is offered, take it.
