I ran across this article, and I must admit that the author gives a pretty accurate description of the way provider pricing works. During my research when first getting into the hobby itself, I noticed that the Dallas area Providers have the lowest, most unheard of (IMO) prices I've seen. I feel sorry for those girls. Any thoughts?
She makes some good points but I disagree with her argument that reducing the online escorts' prices to that of streetwalkers will result in the same risks and quality as those of streetwalkers...
I'd figure all pay-for-play prices would have to move in tandem.. i.e., when the going rate in NYC was $200/hr, streetwalkers were probably $40; whereas if & when it moves/moved to $300-400, the streetwalkers would have to push $60-80, and vice versa. It's basically an inflation effect summed up with supply and demand in that sector (in this case, sex). If NYCs going rate dipped to $160/hr due to increased supply of sex workers or a decrease in aggregate demand or say economic deflation (or a combination thereof), it wouldnt mean that suddenly quality declines by 50%+ and that all these sex workers start acting like streetwalkers. If $160 just isnt enough for these girls to eke out a good hour of quality time with a client, the situation would correct itself by these girls just stopping to hobby (dropping supply, resulting in increased price assuming the same demand). Also, if the going rate in NYC were to drop to $160/hr, then streetwalkers would probably have to adjust due to the same dynamics to ~$30 (otherwise the marginal cost of getting an upscale, safer call girl off the internet would be too low to ever warrant seeing a streetwalker).
"Maggie" seems to have a good head on her shoulders, a good sense of logic in matters of economics, but picks a few selective blind spots when it favors her argument. Dallas has a low going rate possibly due to a lower number of unmarried men or those living in single-person non-family households (http://neworleans.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm vs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Dallas,_Texas). Also New Orleans is far more a go-to spot for vices, so you'd imagine that the demand would adjust appropriately (a similar but smaller effect to the one witnessed in Las Vegas).
That was a good article. For myself the most I like to pay is $200/hour. I have seen providers at the $300/hour range and I see no difference in services. So for $600 I get 3 1 hour appointments versus 2 1 hour appointments. If the provider is hot I get 3-6 pops versus 2-4 pops.
I have know some who did not offer GFE go from $200 to $300 then have to drop it back down to $200. They regretted that they would have to raise the prices.
There are some ladies that I see that charge $150/hour. I generally will book them for 2 hours for $300.
A few weeks ago I saw a visiting provider (GFE) who lowered her price from $200 to $140. I told her she never do that. I paid her $200. She was pretty happy.
I have studied the Dallas market for years. It seems like it has been saturated with BP/CL providers for a long time.

The current Dallas going rate on P411 is actually 250 -- lower than other cities' but not by much.
No, girls here are doing just fine with that rate. Revenue = rate x quantity, while the rate maybe lower, it is made up by higher average number of visits. Texans keep their heritage of visiting providers very well.
Yes, there are plenty of hot providers in Dallas. However, I don't think one can call it "buyers market": providers here screen customers just as much as providers in any other cities and they don't see just anyone.
So, don't feel sorry for the girls here if you are providers and come on down here and check out the girls if you are hobbyists.
We've all seen them. Girls that charge $800 to $1k plus per hour yet look no better if at all from one or more of our favorites that charges $400 or less. Invariably, their ratings are always 9s and 10s, as well. I always wonder (and doubt) that they deserve higher ratings than said ATFs. If decent pictures are available, a looks rating comparison is easy. The rest comes down to performance. I strongly suspect that guys that throw down $1k to $2k for a session rate the girl high as a sort of "buyer's pride". It's like buying a $90k Mercedes that has more glitches and problems than a $25k Toyota. They still can't help rating the Benz as the best in the world. To rate it less makes it too obvious that they've wasted money over a good advertisement.
So, the conclusion is that these girls have made a choice: They don't work very much, but when they do reel a guy in, they more or less make up for it.
The bottom line is, it is sometimes easier to make a profit by over-pricing your product or service than by underpricing.
People don't like to look foolish and paying $1,000 an hour for a 8 looks very foolish when an 8 can be had for $250. I think it is why high end ladies get such high scores. I took a swing with such a high end lady, I was completely unimpressed. She would have got her first 7 in performance if she wasn't a friend of my wife's and I didn't wish to cause my wife issues. Never again will I pay more the $400 an hour per lady, never.

Simple did I have fun? Then It was worth it. Trick is I never really had much fun in the three dates when I paid over $400. One robbed me. It was well before I heard of TER.
The other gave out a lack luster performance and tried to manipulate me into given me high scores anyway. My friendship is with my wife is the only reason I bite my tongue and not spread what I know about her and why she has such good reviews. Yes, my wife has my balls.
The third was a plain waste of money and she did't even pay all that much attention to me, both times I seen her. And yes I was an idiot for seeing her twice. Once I din't bring enough for her upsell and the second well I had more fun the first time. I made the classic mistake in thinking with my little head because she was a former pageant winner and hot as hell. She is my only five, and the second if I posted said review would have been a 3.
I will never pay more then $400 again. I have been burned every time. I know there are many upscale ladies that do a fine job and do everything possible to do the best job they can. I just can get it much cheaper else where. I doubt many $400+ ladies would ride me so hard cow girl that my she literally bounces my almost 400lb body in the air. I have found that at $250 mark.
SCOED, I agree with you. I have gone for the high priced ladies several times and was disappointed each time. Although they warranted a 10 on looks, their performance was less than great and we just did not have good chemistry, I thought they were "stuck up" because of their looks. I always wondered if they were like that with "big spenders" who could lavish them with expensive gifts and were not worried about busting their "playing budgets". Personally, I think their glamour and man-made bosoms are very overrated.
I've gone past the 400 mark several times, and only once was it a really memorable occasion. I'm a big-breast hound and this was with an ultimate big-breast porn star that also happened to be a very hot performing provider. The other times, I either felt over-charged or at the very least under-impressed. So to answer your question, in cases where is doesn't involve some fantasy fuck you just gotta get off your bucket list, in most venues, 400 is the point of diminishing return on the dollar.
It is a range thing for me, 200 to 300.
It is all matter of supply and demand. Atl rates have begun creeping upwards and it is going to comeback soon. When there is $ to be made, especially in well known city like ATL, more providers will start to come increasing competition and the locals will end up lowering rates starting with agencies first.
It is fascinating indies and agencies alike raise their rates when they revamp their websites.

So it makes perfect sense to me. High price, low volume is clearly the preferred business model for this illegal activity that is fraught with risk on some many levels.
And appearance is only one of the factors that support the price. The ones that make it work have more than looks going for them.
