The timetable *is* the issue. If he says he won't budge, what's the point in seeing him? If they go to him under those terms recited publicly, they are defeated.
Of course we all know that Pelosi met with Syria last week because it was imperative that there be a dialogue regardless of the past or any preconditions to an outcome.
Then today:

"Speaking for myself, I'm ready …-- and knowing the speaker, I think that she (Pelosi) might be.''

Looks like finally today they just might meet with Bush, but only if they are guaranteed certain pre-conditions.
