I have to be the contrarian here

Exactly twice in my time in this hobby have I given an advance deposit to a lady.

Both were well-reviewed out-of-town providers who shall remain namelsss. In one case, the appointment came off without a hitch; the lady and I have since had several amazing and wonderful afternoons together (needless to say without a deposit). The other resulted in a cancelation by the provider for personal reasons - and I had a heartfelt apology and a full refund within the hour.

Bottom line - sometimes it's worth it. But ONLY, repeat ONLY with a well-reviewed provider and even then, ONLY after you, the client, have established a certain level of trust in the lady, either through telephone conversations or emails - almost a reverse screening process. Otherwise . . .  well, see posts above.

To pass some time I looked up visiting providers on Eros.  Came across and ad for Amanda, a hot looking babe.  She has a link to a web site so I checked it out.  A bit pricey ($500 per hour with a 2 hour minimum).  I even found some reviews.

The point of this post, however, is her requirement of a 50% deposit to reserve an appointment.  The details on the deposit are clear - if you cancel you lose your deposit.  If she cancels you get it back or you get a credit.

Now I can understand a desire on the part of a provider to avoid last minute cancellations and no-shows.  I imagine both are a drag, in particular someone traveling.

But does any one actually feel comfortable sending someone they don't know $500 with the expectation that you will get it back if she doesn't show up?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Given that the reviews imply that her pics were not current as of one year ago; that her reviews are less than stellar; and that there is no review within the last year; I have a feeling that there are better ways to spend 1k.  Just my $.02.

I would never see a provider that required a deposit. You have too many risks involved. It would be a shame to see you loose $250 to some type of scam. There are enough girls that don't require a deposit. Stick with them. Good Luck!

I hate to even admit this but here goes....

I was intrigued by a lady a couple of years back from N.C.(her pic's and emails where hot).

Making a long story short.. after many emails back & forth that were extremely positive & re-assuring ... she said that I needed to send her 1/2 of the fee for the actvity that i had in mind.

That came to 600 bens !!

So the Bens were Fedx-d I shaved my tallywhacker, bought new cologne & even new underwear.  I was ready for some serious poon-ing !!

You know where the story goes...
good by Benjamins & no nooky !! What a schmuck I was :~(

Even to this day .. I can't believe i fell for that scam !!

Once around that block is enuff ! No more effin deposits !!

PS Yes..I did not do the right research b/4 you ask ..it was pre TER.

especially when we let the little head do the thinking.  At least you are brave enough to admit it to the benefit of the rest of us.

Thats crazy.....cuz you dont really know for sure what your going to get .....

BS to me

I've spent many, many bucks on providers...most of them well-earned.

The one thing I will NEVER do again is leave a deposit. I don't care if it's Jenna Jameson.

I got ripped off once from Sweet Melissa in SC. She cancelled her whole CT tour and never paid any of the money back she collected in deposits (until recently, when she supposedly made restitution to one person).

If a provider books a trip, the risk of cancellations are known as the "cost of doing business". I don't advocate cancelling and no one likes it. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna send someone money up front anymore.

If see a deposit required, I move on...I advise others to do the same.

lawyer,
you already got lots of good feedback, but I couldn't resist. What Are You Out Of YourF*****g Mind???? jeez, there are so many wondeful and beatiful ladies that are known with great reviews...do your research. and Poon its "FU..Get..abou...tit!!

just wanted to get other people's thoughts.  If everyone feels the same way, why do some provider's ask for deposits?  Does anyone actually pay a deposit?  I imagine someone must.

Here's my problem with a deposit. Who do you go to if it's not refunded? Can't go to the cops, the Better Business Bureau or the state. You're basically out of luck. There are plenty of providers who don't require deposits. I would never go that route.

My only point was that I do not agree that giving a deposit is an absolute, positive, unequivocal "don't go there." Generally it is, but there can be exceptions.

Of course there is a risk - but then, that is true of many, many things in this little world of ours. And yes, if you get screwed, there is no recourse - no cops, no BBB, no legal recourse at all.

I was emphatic about the two conditions that, to me, are absolute prerequisites for taking this risk. And the particular provider who was the subject of the original post does not even meet the first criteria, so I would never get to the second.

Like everything we do in this world, the general rule applies - do only what is within your personal comfort zone. If in doubt, don't.

... with known providers, or else i just got plain lucky.
did it thrice.
two were visiting providers and the other occasion was when i was a visitor (different state). i was seeing them for the first time AND i wanted multi-hr appointments. all of them asked for deposits. i understood the reason - i was asking for a considerable block of their time and it was a way to show that i was serious. i sent the deposits after making sure that they were sent to the persons intended.
well, like i said, i lucked out
OR i did my research well.
great times were had by all ;)

The provider who stole my deposit (Sweet Melissa of SC) had GREAT reviews and an "impeccable" reputation.

Yet she still stole deposits from others.

Deposits aren't necessary. There are enough good proivders AND hobbbyists to go around not to require them.

See the above thread...a provider just announced her May tour...she seems like a nice enough girl, certainly she's attractive, etc.

She'll be here in May But she asks for a deposit. That's it for me. It's just as if she did not DFK or BBBJ. I move on.

Maybe what you need is a reliable third party to manage the deposits in escrow?
