If you went to the Drs office and the front entry door was still locked 15 minutes after your appt time would you keep waiting?

If you went to the service station and they were supposed to open at 8 but no one was there and you were on the way to work would you wait more than 15 minutes or less?

If you are catching a plane at 2 pm and you get to the airport at 2:15 would  the plane be there waiting?

My rule is wait 15 minutes and if I don't get a call I move on...and never have I had a provider call 30 minutes later and say "where are you"....The no show call or email  is  always the next day if at all..If she is going to call she will call before the appt time and let you know she will be late ...otherwise something happened ..also it doesn't help to keep calling her phone..If she wanted to answer or was able she will most likely answer before the third call.

no, no, not another one of those trying-to-subtly-brag questions, but as I sit here writing this question, I am nearly 2 hours past the time I was expecting to receive a call back with final arrangements.

It seems to me by reading the comments within reviews regarding punctuality, (or lack thereof), that I am not alone in this experience.  Still, the ones you read about eventually showed up.  And often, the experience that followed, seems to at least mitigate the negative experience of the wait.

But on the flip side, this is a customer service industry (or rather a customer servicing industry...)  And in fairness, when a guy makes a call, at least a same-evening call, he is probably somewhat primed and ready for his experience to begin.  He's not calling because he thinks he might have an itch in a couple of hours...

So, he expects to wait an hour or two for the appointment.  But once the designated time passes, he beings to wonder.  After 30 minutes, he (or at least I), begin to wonder a little more. 1 hour? 2 hours later?

I realize that time is a valuable commodity, and if a provider has set some time aside for you, it may through a wrench in her evening (financially speaking) if an appointment is cancelled.  I'm sure it happens all the time, but I don't want to be the inconsiderate one. But there comes a point when the mood has come and gone.  (Pardon the pun.)

What's the expected norm for this hobby?  Has a life time of customer service focus given me an unrealistic expectation as a customer?
