Even if you have attained US Citizenship you can be stripped of it and deported if you lied on your application about any arrests and the Gov't finds out about it later.

A friend of mine who's legally here in the country got convicted for solicitation in one of the local AMP's in Las Vegas. How does this affect her chances of immigrating?
Would appreciate all info...

When you say here legally, on what basis? What visa does she have?  If she's got a green card, not a problem 'cause they're functionally forever.

Other missing info is whether the conviction is a misdemeanor or a felony, the latter being far more serious.  Also, it's a crime of "moral turpitude" which creates another level of problem.

So, you need to supply more info really.

You are an American, I am struggling with this issue myself,If you are arrested and not a us citizen then you most likely be deported and will never be allowed to return...harsh but true in most States, I am not American and have talked to immigration about this issue, Im extra careful when i check references..

If your friend doesn't have her "green card" yet then she is probably in for a world of trouble with the DHS (Department of Homeland Security - they took over the INS). Any arrest and conviction is grounds for loss of status and deportation. If she lies about it on her applications or at her interview then she will also face perjury charges. Even if she is granted permanent residency or even citizenship she can have them revoked if she lies about it. She needs to speak with a good immigration attorney right away.
