The Jews aren't leaving.  The Clinton admin. brokered a deal that would seemingly give Palestine everything they wanted and they balked.  Bush spoke the words "A Palestine State" and they fucked it up and elected Hamas.

They need to stop focusing on the Jews and focus on themselves.

Yeah, I know, catchy title ; very proud of it -- really zeitgeist-like.

I haven't heard this analogy made for quite some time, perhaps since the waning days of the Ford administration. But I'm waxing nostalgic politically, so...

But this essay from Peace Now is certainly "fact-based" -- and you certainly can't accuse Peace Now of being anti-Semetic.

There one interesting spin here -- if this argument in criticism of Israel is made, it cannot generally be made by politically mainstream Americans, as we would  have to discuss the question of our own past national misdeeds, which we're sometimes reluctant to do.  So it's got to be made by effette Europeans, self-hating politically mashocistic American leftists, and unspeakable third world guys of Kofi Annan's ilk.  All of whom we can safely ignore. But who really wins when this argument doesn't get articulated? Better yet, who really loses when this argument is not articulated? I'll give you one guess...

Here's a sample :

"The creation of the state of Israel was, at its inception, founded on the conquest of land already occupied for ages past (this was not, as in the case of the movement of settlers into the Americas, the occupation of 'empty virgin land' but rather involved the expulsion of existing nations through military violence and force, and the substitution of a new nationality in its place.) Now in the case of Israel, this repetition of what happened to the American Indians, complete with the wholesale slaughter (and the following reservation policy, accompanied by constant 'making of treaties' and breaking of same treaties) all this has been dressed up by religious propagandists as being 'the wonderful fulfillment of the plans of Almighty God' being worked out for the benefit of 'God's chosen people'. The plans of God in this case, one must accept, this being 'a divine miracle' after all, involve the use of the kind of force and violations of human rights, seizing of property, and everything else that was involved in the creation of this new state." ....

"...considering what happened seems to be a fair description. Israel is not, nor does it intend to be, a modern 'multicultural state, but like South Africa, intends to be a 'racially pure' state, rather than a democratic state, and this means a permanent policy of excluding, marginalizing, and even getting rid of 'ethically impure' non-Jewish elements such as the Palestinians.)"

This was written in 2001 but the basic argument remains valid.

Hamas should start a fucking chain of casinos.

On a more serious note, in less than 60 yrs.the israelis have managed to build an advanced modern state investing blood, sweat and billions of dollars comparable to what this country has achieved since the first pilgrims arrived.Yet,the "palestinians" were offered more than just running casinos- in fact a state of their own but they want it all back!....comparable to the natives here asking for the whole country back.

thinking of the Israeli High command.

Billions of $$$?  All from the export of jaffa oranges and the illegal re-export of US-provided weaponry?

Yep,the Pallys would have to struggle to match that achievement, as no US weapons would flow their way.  and no one would conveniently overlook any malfeasences they committed.  And of course, no open season on the deep pockets of the US Treasury, like our friends in Tel Aviv.

This could have some humorus spin if we put our minds to it.

For example, in the lounges, when the stand-up comics bomb, it would have an additional level of meaning.

How would the cocktail waitresses be garbed?  "Hey, check out that Burkkha!  Man, I love a great set of eyelashes. I could go on those all night."

And the courtesy limos for high-rollers -- would they later be retired for use in car-bombings?

The chips could images of have dynamite belts printed on them to indicate their denominations?

And when high rollers got comped -- how would that work?  The more terrorist activities one has participated in, the more of a VIP one is?  And do planners outrank operatives?

Would ladies of the evening be discouraged from working the area?

What kind of convention trade would they attract?  I imagine no patronage from AIPAC, the Presidents' Conference, and like-minded groups.

Would there be unique Pally suits for the playing cards?  Instead of diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades I could image rocks [for the Intifada] dynamite belts [for the suicide/homicide/martyrdom bombers], jetliners [for the hijackers] and barbed wire [for refugee camps].

Imagine a terrorist-turned croupier with this Freudian slip -- "Ok, ladies and gentlemen, place your bombs.  Er, sorry, please excuse, I meant place your bets."

Ah, you simply fialed to find the humor in what I had hoped to be a clever and catchy title.

I'm reminded of the dozen or so "tribal homelands" the South Africans tried to set up for the indigenous African population in the aftermath of the Soweto rioting in 1976.  Widely ridiculed as "Bantustans" those artificial statelets received no international recognition despite energetic efforts of the Apartheid-meisters then in charge.  And something like 85% of the population would have been confined to 17% of the land, said land JUST COINCIDENTALLY happens to be in the poorest and most resource deficient areas in the  realm?  Hmm -- sounds a little like the West Bank settler distribution.  Opps, sorry, didn't want to trouble you overly with that fact. Be glad no one has decided to draw that comparison as well.

Yes, the Jews aren't going anywhere.  But my point is, as an American, whereever the Israelis go or don't go, I suggest simple common sense dictates that we head for the opposite direction geneally.  Not too difficult a concept to gasp, methinks.

So, you really dodn't like the title?  You know, it's a play on mindless headings from fashion/style/lifestyle writing such as "Orange Is The New Black" or "Overachieving Is The New Anexoria for Teenage Girls" or "Autoeroticism Is The New ADD."  Gee, I'll have to try harder.
