Getting started can seem a little intimidating especially in light of many requiring references, but we all started new, so it is entirely doable- don't get discouraged!

Suggestions

1.  Read as much as you can of the FAQ for Newbies at top of this discussion board
2.  Read provider websites, especially their faq section as some will discuss newbies
3.  Be polite, interested, and follow all the contact rules in the FAQ for newbies- ie, just say My name is -----------  (give real whole name, first and last),  I've read your reviews and website and am really interested in meeting you.  The gal should take it from there.  Do not mention money, acts, any hint of what the transaction is about- if you've read her website and reviews, you and she pretty much already know everything you would want to ask.
4.  When the references come up, simply tell the truth, you are new.  Be willling to give employment info (the well reviewed ladies will handle this info well and discreetly) and show your driver's license on arrival.

You will find if you search enough provider sites one that talks about taking newbies.

Other suggestions, join one of the verification sites-  RS2K, date check or preferred411, sometimes smooths the road.

Some have said agencies are easier for a newbie to get a visit with but I do not know never having used an agency.

Hope that helps!

So I have made numerous emails to providers since I've been trying to crack into this hobby several months ago.  A few get back to me, but they always end up asking me to call.  I've realized calling is the only true way to schedule something... email shmemail.

The problem is I'm a nerd.  I hate talking on the phone, and I have no idea how to sound when I make the first contact call.  I probably sound like a doctor or a lawyer, or a pompous ass. What do you guys say when you first call and how do you say it?

I say something like "Hello my name is M**** and I'd like to know if X**** is available for an appointment today or tomorrow afternoon".  The person on the other end always sounds very suspicious and tells me I need references (to which I say I'm new but am willing to provide any information necessary".

This is not working.  Emails, nothing.  Phone calls, fail.  Am I the only one who has this incredible uncomfortableness with talking on the phone?  And if not, how do you overcome it?  How do I book something!!! :(

I would suggest that you try and relax a little. You have to understand that the suspicion you may sense on the other end of the line sorta goes with the territory. If you sound nervous or fake you are only going to make that person more suspicious. Read as much as you can about the gal before you call, take a deep breath and dial the number. If it helps, try writing down a flow of what you want to ask during the call. Remember that specific questions about activities will send up a red flag and you may get hung up on. It's always tough the first few times but just remember that you are dealing with ladies who do this for a living. You are not asking them anything they haven't been asked a thousand times before. Good luck!

I just made my first appointment by e-mail and the process was easy. I booked a couple of weeks ahead so maybe you should try that instead of today or tomorrow afternoon.

Also maybe you need to adopt a more positive attitude!LOL

I feel your pain. I'm always nervous as hell when I make the phone call too. I usually say something like, "Yes, hello, I'm calling to make an appointment." And then let her lead the way with whatever questions she may have. I guess it depends on weather or not you are calling an agency as opposed to an independent girl too. She could be driving when she answers her cell phone, or in a situation where she can't talk right away. So I always wait for them to start asking the questions before I blurt out all the details of what I'm looking for. An agency is usually ready to jot down the info pretty quickly, but I still wait for them to ask too.

I still have a dry mouth, and tend to get tongue tied when I make phone contact.

As others have said, making notes before you call (suggested time, place, her name, where you saw her ad, you mobile phone number, etc.) will help.

Just be yourself, whatever that may be.  Trust me, she has heard from, and met, nerds, doctors, lawyers and pompous asses.

Treat it like a business call. That is what I do.

"Yes, hello, may I speak to such and such. This is regarding an appointment. Hello . . I am looking to validate and confirm this appiointment on XXX date. Great! Thank you very much for your time , and I look forward to seeing you soon. "

Short and to the point. I think being SLIGHTLY nervous conveys realism and that you are not LE, you just can't be trenchcoat-mafia-stalker nervous.

If I'm making sense. Who knows I'm seven beers deep.
