Communication skills

Please, keep in mind these are tips for women in general.  You may or may not want this level relation with a provider.  Then again, you may.

Women usually just need you to listen. You don’t have to solve their problems.  Just act interested and listen.  Actively listen.  By repeating what a lady says to you or paraphrasing it she will feel understood and like you care.

Women solve their problems and work through them by talking about them. So, if you really want her to open up to you, all you have to do is ask her’ “How was your day?” and let her answer you.  As she shares her day with you and you every so often repeat some of what she shared with you back to her, you say… “so when Amy said blah, blah, blah, etc. you got really hurt, mad, upset, excited, etc.?” She’ll say… “exactly!” and keep right on rolling.

Great communication is important when dealing with a provider, too.  I try to communicate as effectively as possible, while not discussing inappropriate or overly detailed subjects until we meet in person.
