irst, they hired BB coach Mike Rice who so abusive to his players –calling them fags and throwing basketballs at them - that even Bobby Knight complained. Then athletic director Tim Pernetti, after learning of the abuse, decides just to tell Rice to lighten up, give him a three game suspension, and a fine. So after a video of the abuse gets on ESPN Rice and Pernettei both get fired.
Time to clean house, says Rutgers President Robert Barachi, and bring in some top notch professionals.
First up is the new BB coach, Rutgers graduate Eddie Jordan. Opps. Except that after hiring him they find out Jordan never actually graduated from Rutgers, he just “did course work.” Not Jordan’s fault that he put on his resume that he was a Rutgers graduate.
So let’s bring in a first class athletics director to clean up the program. And Rutgers’ choice is ….Julie Hermann. You may remember her name because, while she was coaching the girls’ team at Tennessee, her players mutinied over her abusive behavior. To motivate the team, Hermann called the girls "whores, alcoholics and learning disabled." All 15 players signed a letter to admin complaining that she coached through “humiliation, fear and emotional abuse.” Herman also fired an assistant coach bc she became pregnant.
You would probably remember an incident like that, wouldn’t you? Not Julie Hermann, who denied any memory of the complaints
"I never heard any of this, never name-calling them or anything like that whatsoever," she told the newspaper. "None of this is familiar to me."
But never fear. I think Rutgers has learned its lesson. Rumor has it that they are about to bring in a former IRS official who just happens to be looking for a new job at the moment to supervise the whole program
or anything about this story. But the "alleged" incident happened 15 years ago. People can change over 15 years, and Louisville said that her conduct had been impeccable while employed there. And it would seem, according to the tone being set by this story, that anyone who has EVER used any kind of slur, racial slur, homophobic slur, called anyone a whore, or an alcoholic, or retarded, called anyone a scurvy dog, a pussy, had an affair, who was married to someone who had an affair, or who knew someone who had an affair and failed to rat them out, who refused to talk to a member of the left-wing drive-by media, that person would never EVER be able to hold a position of authority ANYWHERE! If so, we're ALL in trouble. What happened to the land of second chances? Anyway, I'm sure that she'll be dutifully fired, drawn and quartered, burned at the stake, then her ashes will be flushed down an appropriate toilet somewhere.
