Wow- he was scoring before I was born. And no 3 point shot either.

No one will ever score 100 points in a game

Wrong - Division III Jack Taylor scored 138 in a game last month. True, St. Croix was guarding him, but even so it was an impressive achievement regardless of level. Listen, when Wilt reached triple figures in that mythical game in Pennsylvania, most of his shops were dunks. Taylor nailed 27 threes including seven in a row a one point.

UCLA is headed to the Final Four

Wrong - With a once in a lifetime recruiting class (prospects  2,5, 27, and 43) added to a thee ex Carolina players and a pro prospect big man, I didn’t think UCLA could miss. But the big man  quit the team and two of the freshmen have stunk. But what strikes me is how these guys play with no passion and no enjoyment of each other’s accomplishments.

Prediction- they will get in the tournament, will lose in the second round, Muhammad will turn pro, and Ben Howland will be fired.

Duke is the Number One Team

Wrong. This one pains me but this is the most overachieving Duke team I have ever seen.
They have beaten more good teams than anyone else so far but let’s go deeper. Mason Plumless can’t score if he is more than a foot from the basket, has no “go to” shot, and I am not convinced he has really solved his free throw shooting problem. Coach K is only playing six guys, the point guard is inconsistent, the defense though improved is still poor, and Ryan Kelly – who needs to score 16 or 18 a game for Duke to be good has shot poorly.

Sorry, 1 Rob, but my prediction is a loss in the round of 16.

You just created a myth of your own. Chamberlain never scored 100 points in college. His 100 point game was in the NBA with the Philadelphia Warriors.

That was the point of the previous sentence when I said "regardless of level" but thanks for the clarification for non-BB addicts who were misled. When you consider that the pro game is 8 minutes longer than the college game, 138 in a college game almost defies belief.

on the Devils... UCLA in the final 4? Despite the occasional puffing of the Bruin roundballers  by the Saint and other west coast friends here, it appears they won't make a very strong run despite some good recruiting, given the inside guy quitting and having the twins, who couldn't cut it in the ACC, as stalwarts-But we wish the Bruins well and would hope to play them early in the tourney as it would assure the Dukesters another round -smile
Duke has played awesomely so far this year, but the team reminds me of the Redick squads, where he had to shoot great every game or they went down in the tourney-it happened every year where he would have a bad game and they'd lose-Curry has been magnificent, but he has to do it every night or we're in for trouble-I'm really proud of Plumlee, who has gone from a 'C' to an "A-'' IMHO-great hustle and rebounding, though still limited offensively-the 20 percent increase in free throws will win some big games-Kelly shows some signs of shooting well though they've played some weak sisters in past weeks-Cook has been impressive too-There seems to be great comraderie on this
team and they have overachieved-I can't see a championship though but hope springs eternal--Again, Happy 2013---1rob...settling in for some New Year's day football..out  8-)

Bevo Francis of the University of Rio Grande went over a hundred twice in the early 50's-I'm a lot older than you and can still remember a few things....smile  1rob...out

but I usually can't remember what happened last week-smile
Selvy went on to play for the Lakers and missed an NBA Championship game 7 shot versus the Celtics-a 12 footer-that would have won the Lakers the title in 62-but he missed and the Celts pulled it out in overtime-much to Mr. Selvy's chagrin-Thanks for the memory, Buddy....

..."garbage time" for the Lakers.  Garbage time is one of many phrases invented by the late great Laker announcer Chick Hearn.

awesome-He coined some of the greatest terms in roundball-Thanks for the great information and broadening my intellectual horizons-smile     question...who was the
bigger homer...Chick Hearn or Johnny Most of the Celtics? pretty close I'd say  lol     here's an article on Most      celticsgreen.blogspot.com/2007/05/homerism-part-2-johnny-most.html
