Everyone SHOULD get tested regularly (especially female providers). Female providers have the most to lose, since any infection will hit them extra hard, and they may not even know they are infected. For a man, the risk of prolonged infection is much less devastating, whereas a female with a long term infection faces sterility, internal scaring, and other major medical issues. There have been a flurry of recent reports by the CDC noting there has been a large increase in resistant gonorrhea which is almost impossible to kill.

Here's a link to a 2011 article, which specifically noted Los Angeles (and west coast states) as a particularly hard hit area.

While 95% of men show symptoms, only 50% of women do. So half the women out there may have NO CLUE they are infected at all.

Ive personally given up both the LFK and DFK under fear of oral gonorrhea, not to mention any type of uncovered anything... I find that I'm happier without having to constantly check and question if I got something from the last person I was with... It was just not worth the mention anguish.

Best wishes, be safe, get tested regularly. Thanks for the link to the tstd.org, there appear to be a few places near where I live and I am considering using them over my regular Dr thru insurance.

I plan to get it done on a regular basis. Can anyone recommend a good place for it? I don't want to show my ID because it's important for me to stay anonymous. I live on the westside so I would prefer some place close to WLA or WeHo.

Thanks, I think I'll give them a try. The only thing that I am not sure about is payment. I would like to pay cash, but that doesn't seem to be an option so I hope they will accept VISA gift cards because I think I can get them with cash.

I have used this service.  (TSTD.org) It's great, and I live in the west side, there are several labs you can go to.  You do not need to use your real name, etc., but am not sure regarding payment (i just used my credit card) if you are trying to hide any kind of paper trail.  But all that information is on the website you may have some payment options.

Just by a little bit.  Although I think my ears have been growing as I get older!

As far as testing, all you gentlemen, (as well as ladies) should be regularly getting tested if you're a hobbyist.  Better safe than sorry, and you're protecting not only yourself but the community as a whole.

End of PSA.

Assuming there's no high risk activities, such as BBFS, how regularly (once a month, once a quater, etc.?) should one be tested?

My test came back and it's all negatives. I plan to keep it that way and do regular checkup. Everything went smoothly. I bought VISA gift card at Walgreen, for the exact amount, and paid it with cash. No problem at all. There's an activation fee of $4.95. I feel it's worth the price for total privacy.
