They put him on the air as an authoritative expert but, in reality, he was never in the CIA and didn't know shit. But slack-jawed righty yokels lapped up what he said and are probably still regurgitating it as gospel truth it in the form of posts on TER.
To make matters worse, Donald Rumsfeld swallowed Simmons' bullshit too. Simmons became part of a group of military veterans cultivated by the Defense Department under Donald H. Rumsfeld. He traveled to Guantanamo Bay with the group. Rumsfeld later wrote a letter supporting Simmons’s effort to have his wife buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Way to go, Rummy!
Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes should also get 33 months in prison for perpetrating a fraud on the American people. But they perpetrate a fraud every day with Fox, so considering their ages, I'll be nice and say the sentences should run concurrently, not consecutively.
