I'm a newbie and have several specific q's I expect many newbies have gone through before. But there are over 4000 postings listed here. Is there a way to search without opening up every single post to determine the subject, so that I don't post a bunch of q's that have already been dealt with before?

The button right next to Post Messages is Search Messages. Just open the search page and put in your search terms.
