Sex change operations for gender identity purposes are never necessary, and John Hopkins University refuses to do the procedure anymore, because they found that it causes more harm than good. Really, what this is, is facilitating someone with a mental illness instead of treating that mental illness.  

There's a lot of feminist bullshit propaganda out there that says that gender is something that's a social construct. That male and female identity is totally arbitrary and is socially enforced. This is quite possibly the dumbest idea ever considered in the history of man. If anyone needs any proof of this, then all you need to do is look at the case of David Reimer.  

David Reimer suffered a medical accident as an infant in which his penis was destroyed during a botched circumcision. As an infant he underwent a sex change surgery, and was raised as a girl for the first 14 years of his life. His parents were told that he must never know that he was born a man.  

By the time Reimer was 14 he kept trying to commit suicide, until his parents broke down and told him the truth. The rest of Reimer's life is very much a tragedy, by the time he was 38 he drove to a grocery store parking lot and blew his brains out with a sawed off shotgun.
