t seemed over the last couple years that the human trafficking/slavery crowd had become incredibly loud an omnipresent. Over the last couple months I have been hearing less and less about this cause.
My personal theory is that most of it was due to the AMP culture that had risen in most parts of the country, but that is only my theory. Many AMPs are now closed and many women no longer work the streets which possibly has lead to an "out of sight out of mind" reality.

The bogeyman of human trafficking is alive and well, and at the headline of every bust of consenting adults engaging in P4P. Including some very good friends of mine who were charged with it recently. (and yes they are asian)
it used to be mainly used against asians and latinas, but even white people aren't safe anymore. Virtually every prostitution bust has human trafficking mentioned in the headline, along with the supposed search for underaged providers, even when every woman involved are well over 30, much less 18.

You would think that people on TER would be immune from this media blitz about human trafficking when collectively the members of TER have have millions, more like tens of millions of P4P experiences with barely a handful of anecdotal stories of known human trafficking between us.
To put it this way, almost every one at least knows somebody who has a friend of relative that was killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan, or at least knows somebody who knows somebody who died in battle. The total number of American GI's killed in Iraq and Afghanistan totals somewhere over 6,000, by contrast according to the MSM there are millions of people who are victims of human trafficking in this country, You would think that all of hookers and whoremongers could each point to dozens of victims. The numbers just simply don't add up.
It's gotten a lot more traction with key policymakers and organizations over the last year or so, and more resources are being dedicated to it than it has been in the past. I mean, human trafficking really is a problem, so addressing it isn't at all a bad thing...conflating it with consensual prostitution is wrong and misguided, however; and that doesn't seem to be going away.
