My story is long and boring, so I'll just cut to the chase. I am a rookie at contacting and having an informative discussion with a potential provider. I will be seeking a provider in the near future and am attempting to gain some information, so I do not waste my own, or the providers time arranging a meeting only to discover our expectations do not match.
I have a particular vision of the provider I will be seeking and many fit that template.
My problem is in gaining information as to what a particular provider will consider as acceptable. Understandably, such discussions need to be held very privately, but I have found none that provide a method for this prior to an actual meeting.

I'm afraid we are more interested in the "long and boring" story on this board, rather than "the chase." The best place to find answers is the 'FAQ for Newbies board.'
As to what a provider will find acceptable, the VIP section of a review usually provides that information. Beyond, I'd suggest that you have a talk with her when you meet.

There are always going to be some surprises and it is hard to go into this with a mentality of a perfect scenario. Sometimes the pictures/descriptions are not accurate, sometimes services vary according to client, sometimes you click.
I think if you want to participate in the hobby you have to take your best shot and accept what you get, there are good and bad surprises. At some point with experience you know a bit more about what you're looking for.
Thanks for the advice folks. I did discover the FAQ section after I posted this, and it contained many helpful suggestions for a rookie. I do understand the basics here and am not looking for guarantees. The suggestions you folks provided are all I was searching for, a starting point. I will probably also follow your advice of joining the VIP section. If those are reasonably informative, perhaps my questions will be better answered there.

I did discover the FAQ section after I had already posted the original, and found many helpful bits of insight there for a newbie.
Every little bit of insight from those who have enjoyed before me, is much welcome. I do understand it may take some time to find a provider that clicks with me or me with them, but any potential shortcuts to that process were what I was seeking.
The VIP section here sounds like a great idea for me and I believe I'll heed that advise also.
